gateb
Just unbelievable. And then he'll go to Chicago and his career will never recover.
rawRen1
What was the problem that he had with the owner? The guy has a .500 record managing a team that has a 25-million-dollar payroll...
Herc
i dont thik he should be fired, but one thing i saw in the article was him bringing back his starter after a 4 and a half hour rain delay. the pitcher hurt his arm and was out for the season. that's inexcusable, especially during a pennant race. that said, he doesn't deserve to be fired, these guys obviously want to play for him

so-cal dub
Thats just a crazy decision on the Marlins part. You just cant get away from asking why. I hope he goes to a better team next year and dominates. Rub it in the Marlins management face.
fringe
Stooopid owner! i think that's what girardi said too...... to his face. never a good tactic for long term employment. i'd take girardi to replace the cream of wheat for brain we got now. Herc
you can't fire a candidate formanager of the year, but i mean come on, but what girardi did is the equivalent of going into your boss' office with every single one of his clients in there and telling him to shut up

njsmalls
Stooopid owner! I can't blame the Marlins front office for having such a small payroll. They have almost NO fan support. Since 75% (exaggeration) of Florida are from NY most people who are baseball fans are Yankees or Mets fans is one excuse. They play in a football stadium that is surrounded by a so-so neighborhood that really features nothing except the Turnpike. This team needs a new stadium, bad... Ditto
What did he say? Shut up! Not you, of course. The way I heard it, the owner was getting on an umpire something fierce, which is not good since those umps can hold a grudge for a long, long time. (Roberto Alomar couldn't buy a decent call after he spit in that ump's face.)
Blue Jeans
Girardi is going to be a great manager someday, the Marlins are dumb.
