To replace Sanchez who is now out for the year. I thought maybe we could have gotten more for Nady. Looks like Milledge will be the everyday starter now, unless they trade him. I can't really look on the bright side but I would guess Pedro especially can help him. He has never had veteren leadership in his career. Money
I'm not a big fan of this deal. Perez has been awful the past two years, no matter what excuses anyone plans to construct for him (he's in Triple AAA right now for crying out loud). I'm also not sold on Milledge being a full-time plus starter at this stage of his career. This is what I hate about the trade deadline: teams feel pressured to make a move for the sake of making a move ... and often times they end up making themselves worse instead of better. In the Mets case, they were cruising along and a lock to be in the NLCS. What pressure was there to make any major moves besides adding a reliever to replace Sanchez? gateb
I liked Roberto last year. It would've been great if we had him AND Sanchez to bolster our pen but you can't have everything. Is there any chance Duaner is back by October?
mws44
I can't tell if I like this deal yet or not. I did like Hernandez last year, he seemed to be a solid set up guy, but he is 41 and could break down later in the year. I have no idea what we get in Perez, his numbers are horrible for the last 2 year, but we will see what Peterson can do with him. I do want to say that Nady was huge for us so far this year. He stepped into a position that was a total question mark for us coming into this season and did a very solid job. He never really hurt us in the field and he produced some nice numbers in the bottom of the lineup. Good luck to him and I hope he does well in Pitt. gateb
I feel bad for him too. He goes from the Mets to the Pirates. Not a good transition.

Plow
you mets fans are fucking pathetic, you know that? absolutely pathetic. The idea is to win a world series, when sanchez goes down you have to get somebody. You know hernandez can handle the job, it was his last year and he did fine. So whats the big deal? Your bulpen is not the big strength of your team, so when you lose a guy like sanchez you have to do something. You know Hernadez can fill his shoes, you have to do it. Then you get Oliver Perez, who with some coaching could be somebody at some point. If not, he's still some trade bait. People are going to look at that one unbelievable year he had and will take a chance on him. but for pete's sake, nady was hitting .264 with a .325 OBP, i know he had some power, but so does every right fielder in the majors. Will he be missed? Yes. But the mets have the kind of money that they can go into the offseason and get a good RF if they want. the real reason you all dont like this trade is cuz u have to deal with the idea that you have lost sanchez. Injuries happen, learn to deal with them.

Thank god it's you Plow, that's telling us Mets fans that injuries happen. If it were another Yankee fan telling us not to use the injury excuse... that'd be the definition of hypocritical. We got a sick pitcher (knock on wood) and now we own lefties. It wasn't nady's fault wright forgot to hit against lefties.
