BlueInCanada
So he's basically done as a Giant now eh? He hasn't been healthy since his rookie year, year four of his contract, now an ankle injury. Don't see a year 5 being picked up.

But yeah, he's not a guy we can rely on. Needs to be replaced.

Ojulari hasn't been healthy to really make much of a determination and Thibs is more a pass rush specialist at this point.

Then his body just failed him, can't be a good player if you're not on the field.

RandolphScott
He’s always hurt. Good player when he plays but he never plays. Someone will give him a silly contract because of his ability though
mastershake
Say we have cap space in 2024 free agency for three good/premium free agents, plus we have three picks in the top three rounds. I honestly would be completely fine if we used all six or five of six of those assets on the OL and DL/DE positions, at this point. Why wouldn't we? Consider the 9-10 starting positions on the OL and DL: we currently only have 2 reliable starters (Thomas, Lawrence), plus I assume we're obviously going to give JMS a continued shot to develop. Maybe Thibs develops, maybe he doesn't and is only a pass rush specialist. Same with Neal, whether he moves to guard or stays at Tackle. Either way, that's basically 5-6 starting spots that need to be filled in 2024. Leonard Williams will be a FA and is overrated anyway (maybe if he signs a 1 year ~$4M deal, you bring him back), Bredeson is a FA who should be only a backup anyway, Glowinski will need to be cut for cap space who needs to retire anyway. Fill in the rest of the roster in 2024 at DB, WR, LB, RB with mid-lower end FAs and mid-late round draft picks.
gmenroc
I don't disagree with that approach at all. It is clear the lines are the largest problem (and have been) and need fixing. Need a RT and 2 guards for starters. I think we have to try Neal at one of the guard spots next year. So we need two starters for sure after moving Neal. The third offensive line addition needs to be an inside guy to spell Neal should that experiment fail...so 2 starters and a backup. I think we have some DT talent coming up behind Williams. I wouldn't resign him at all and focus more on a DE or two. Not a LB posing as a DE. We will meed another CB and S too cause AJ and McKinney should likely be gone. So all told... Starting RT Starting G Backup G Starting DE x2 Starting S Slot CB Do all possible to hit on those

I'd still add DT depth too (Davidson hasn't proven he can stay healthy, Robinson and Williams are gone after this season).

I'd have no issue taking a guy and letting Jones be the bridge since he's 47 million against the cap. Then toss him to the curb and still amass assets for the new QB. RandolphScott
I still think Thibs will be a good player. He’s likely gonna crack 10 plus sacks this season and he’s getting the majority of double teams. Get someone else to stop the run

He needs opposite side help and the DT/NT are supposed to take on the run.
