BronxRik
Draft class of 2022: Round 1·Pick 5 (5) Kayvon Thibodeaux EDGE Oregon Thibodeaux is a boom-or-bust blue-chip player with impressive physical tools and an unstoppable speed-rush maneuver. The Oregon product displays exceptional balance and body control turning the corner. With outstanding instincts and snap-count anticipation enhancing his speed rush attempts, the electric pass rusher could blossom into a destructive force as a pro. Round 1·Pick 7 (7) Evan Neal OT Alabama CHI>NYG Neal is a super-sized edge blocker with natural skills as a left tackle. The 6-7, 337-pounder is a patient technician with the length to stymie pass rushers off the edge and the power to blow defenders off the ball. The Alabama standout is a powerful run-blocker, but not quite as nasty as some of his counterparts in this class. Round 2·Pick 11 (43) Wan'Dale Robinson WR Kentucky ATL>NYG Neal is a super-sized edge blocker with natural skills as a left tackle. The 6-7, 337-pounder is a patient technician with the length to stymie pass rushers off the edge and the power to blow defenders off the ball. The Alabama standout is a powerful run-blocker, but not quite as nasty as some of his counterparts in this class. Round 3·Pick 17 (81) Cordale Flott CB LSU MIA>NYG As a catch-and-run specialist with outstanding stop-start quickness and burst, Robinson is a natural slot receiver/WR3/returner. Round 4·Pick 7 (112) Daniel Bellinger TE San Diego State CHI>NYG Bellinger has NFL-starter ability, offering reliable ball skills and a proven pedigree in the run game at SDSU. The Giants don't have a tight end on the roster who is expected to run away with the starting job, so consider this a need that has been addressed. Round 4·Pick 9 (114) Dane Belton SAF Iowa ATL>NYG Belton's college production is impressive and he offers the versatility to cover in the slot or in the deep half. While he doesn't have extensive special teams experience, that is likely where he'll need to impress to see the field early on. Round 5·Pick 3 (146) Micah McFadden LB Indiana NYJ>NYG The Giants were one of the worst defenses against the run last year and had a need at linebacker coming into the draft. They waited longer than expected to address that need, but McFadden can come in and instantly help out on obvious run downs as well as on special teams. Round 5·Pick 4 (147) DJ Davidson DT Arizona State The Giants, who had the third-lowest run-stuff rate in 2021, according to Next Gen Stats, address their run defense in consecutive picks. Davidson is disruptive and instinctual against the run, which should win coaches over early in camp. Round 5·Pick 30 (173) Marcus McKethan G North Carolina KC>BAL>NYG Giants scouts sure were fans of North Carolina's rugged offensive line group. They selected a behemoth guard in McKethan who gets to compete with his college teammate and Giants' third-round pick Joshua Ezeudu. Round 6·Pick 3 (182) Darrian Beavers LB Cincinnati The Giants dip into the linebacker well again to address a depth need. Beavers should compete with fellow rookie Micah McFadden for inside reps in Don "Wink" Martindale's 3-4 base. Undrafted rookies: RB Jeremiah Hall, Oklahoma CB Darren Evans, LSU CB Tre Swilling, Georgia Tech Hopefully you are the beginning of greatness, the restoration of Giants Pride, and start Joe Schoen's legacy. BlueInCanada
I give the draft a solid "B" The biggest thing I hate was the Robinson pick, why would you draft another gadget player when you have Toney? However clearly Daboll loves the kid so lets see how he uses him out there on the field. If he's the next Deebo then I wont complain lol Other than that though you can see the Giants clearly had a direction in the draft, sure up the Oline and get Wink versitility on defense which he loves in his blitz packages and schemes. Day one was a home run, Thibs is Osi with more power, Neal is the RT of the next 15 years and can even fill in elsewhere if needed. Outside of the Robinson pick I like the day two additions; Ezeudu is a day one competitor for one of the guard spots, and can even play tackle in a pinch, and Flott seems like a 100% Wink pick, lengthy athletic, highly competitive outside corner, who can play on an island, just needs to go hit the weight room. I think day three we legitimately got four starters or atleast players who are going to be in the starting rotation. Bellinger was an underutilized TE in college but everything is there for him to become the next starting TE for the NY Giants, he will be seeing playing time, just needs to sure up his run blocking. McFadden is a day one starting LB, he's everything you would want in a 3-4 LB, however undersized. He can get after the run, play the pass and can bring the heat, probably one of my favorite picks of the draft. Davidson is as a former GM put it a "hog molly" day one rotation player setting up the nose tackle spot on the DL, could even develop into a full time nose tackle. Belton is going to be a rotation piece in the secondary but he's clearly going to be the "$"-backer that's now the norm in the NFL with three safety sets. Can get after the run, bring the pressure and cover a TE, but from all reports lacks the athleticism to play deep field safety however McKinney has that down pat. Beavers (great name) and McKethan are project players but both have upside, Beaver being your traditional "Thumper" LB who just runs head long into running plays and tackles anything with the ball. McKenthan is just a fucking mammoth of a guard (6ft 6 340 pounds) with stupid strength, hopefully they can develop him into a capable backup. CrazedDogs
I must be further out of pocket on college prospects than ever, because I was shocked to see that Robinson was a regular in the 1st round in 'expert' mock drafts until he measured 3 inches under the team's listing of 5'11" at the combine. I felt like I'd barely heard of the guy. not sure if there's enough there to call it a trend yet, but this year's class has elite athletic testing scores, in particular in the first ten yard split of the 40 yard dash, and it seems that 'size' doesn't matter much to them for players that won't have their hands in the dirt. After watching some tape.... Meggett is such a great comp for Robinson. Super smart, great vision.

He's done nothing but produce in college and when he transfered from Nebraska to Kentucky they realized his potential and had the second most receiving yards in the SEC. Scouts had him as a sure fire second round pick but the moment he came up slightly under 5ft 8 he's stock tanked. Then having a subpar 40 time for his size didn't help either. Im not thrilled about taking him in the second, but they had him highly rated. Let's hope Daboll uses him right.

mastershake
Check out the bowl game vs Iowa towards the end. Robinson burns our own Dane Belton on 4-5 plays. Lol So you should feel better about Robinson...not so much for Dane Belton, lol. Dane Belton looks terrible. Maybe at best he can cover TEs but not WRs in the NFL. Robinson could be a good WR but was taken too early and we have a terrible track record with undersized speedsters. The rest of the draft literally was reaches. Again, not impressed with Schoen and co. This is not how competitive teams are built.

boohyah
Why is it a problem to get 2 guys with a similar skill set?. Mike Kafka just spent the last few season with Tyreek Hill, who was 5 10 and 185. You don't think this guy has plays for this type of player. Not sure what some have been watching around here, but it was last year when we had our worst offense that I ever remember and that goes back to 84. We need playmakers everywhere. Not the draft we expected because the names we thought they'd go for, they didn't. But they addressed nearly every spot we have in this draft. Time will tell, but they were incredibly competent running this and none of this "smarter than everyone/let's cause a stir" bullshit that Gettleman couldn't get out of his system. It was refreshing to see professionalism for the first time in years

Since the bottom of this roster has about 20 guys who will likely be cut before the season starts, we are going to need everyone of these guys drafted. This team had no cap money and now a corner that he has little or no bargaining power for. From all angles, he's intent on building a team and the roster we have now is already ahead of what walked off the field last year.

Sephiroth
It's really funny reading all of the draft grades. The same guys who said for every pick, "well that was pretty high for him" are now giving "A" grades on the draft. My only explanation is that these are the same guys who've been saying that Schoen is the next great GM for the past 5 years and now they have egg on their face. I've also heard "they took guys early, but they fit their system." That's a terrible way to draft; if your coordinator is out in a year suddenly you have two dozen guys that don't fit the new guy's system. Hope I'm wrong but outside of the top two guys this is really nothing to be excited about.

Spending high draft picks on projected fringe NFL players is a bad idea, and these guys probably aren't going to be any better than the guys they're replacing. Again, not talking about Thibodaux and Neal, those guys should be quality players for us. The rest of these guys are throwaway players.

And with all due respect, you and I and anyone hasn't seen any of the guys on a pro field to determine anything, but what we do know is that we saw the guys currently on the roster last year. And if some of these rooks can walk straight they are better than the shit we saw last year.
Herc
I think once you get Into the later rounds it becomes a lot more difficult to predict other teams big boards and make value picks. All you have to go by is media big boards/agents and those are based on a mix of unqualified opinions and disinfo provided by teams, plus most don’t go past the first round anyway. Now throw all the trades in and it’s tough to say “I love Robinson here but I can get him in the third”when you don’t know who other teams like and which teams are going to pick between your picks. Ideally you pick everyone in their perfect value spot but in such an unpredictable and difficult market the best you can reasonably shoot for is to identify people correctly and get good players on the team. Yep. Plus there was a clear 1st and 2nd round run on WRs in this draft. There's not guaranteeing Robinson would be around at pick #67, or 81. Between picks 44-66, 5 WRs went.
