BronxRik
https://www.nfl.com/news/ranking-nfl-head-coach-openings-which-job-is-most-enticing#:~:text=New York Giants, home run hire. New York Giants 2021 record: 4-13 Just a few weeks ago, it seemed nearly certain that Joe Judge would return, even with general manager Dave Gettleman's impending retirement, which became official on Monday. The Giants did not want to fire a third coach in a row after just two years. But, the G-Men were embarrassed in the last six games of the season, losing all six by a combined tally of 163-56, scoring an average of 9.3 points per game, and Judge has had to address his own status in recent weeks. If Judge goes, the next coach has a lot to sort through. Does he believe in Daniel Jones? Saquon Barkley? Got any ideas about the offensive line? All of that with a new general manager, who will have two top-10 draft picks but a less-than-ideal cap situation to work with. The Giants have long been viewed as one of the gold-standard franchises in the NFL, but they are at their lowest point since the pre-Parcells days of the 1970s. What kind of coach do they need? A home run hire.

What I'm hoping is they get all these GM candidates in and they blow them away but then they are asked about Judge they all say they'd toss him out on his ass. Then it would kinda force Mara to do it. Or atleast show them that the test of the league knows Judge isn't a HC as well.
BronxRik
No conclusive indication Joe Judge will return as Giants HC in 2022 Joe Judge's future as head coach of the New York Giants remains uncertain a day after Big Blue ended its 2021 campaign with a sixth consecutive loss for a 4-13 season. The Giants have provided no definitive indication that Judge will return for the 2022 campaign, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported Monday. Judge met Monday -- a day in which Giants general manager Dave Gettleman retired -- with team ownership and those meetings concluded with discussions set to continue regarding the 40-year-old's plan for the future, Garafolo reported. One of management's concerns is Judge and the new GM having the same vision for the franchise, so this is a multi-day process as Giants owners determines Judge's fate for next season, Garafolo added. Garafolo also reported Judge met with players and urged them to stay out of trouble and get in the right shape physically and mentally for next season. The search for Gettleman's replacement has already begun, with Titans vice president of player personnel Ryan Cowden, Titans director of player personnel Monti Ossenfort, Bills assistant GM Joe Schoen, 49ers assistant GM Adam Peters, 49ers director of player personnel Ran Carthon and Cardinals VP of pro personnel Adrian Wilson having drawn interview requests. Following New York's 4-13 showing, Judge is 10-23 in two seasons with the club. He began his tenure in 2020 with a five-game losing streak and ended the 2021 season on a six-game skid. Since taking over the Giants, Judge's teams have averaged an NFL-worst 16.3 points per game. Jason Garrett was fired as offensive coordinator after Week 11 of the 2021 season, but the offense went from averaging 18.9 points per game to a dead-last 9.9. Defense has at times been a point of promise for Judge, who was previously a special teams coordinator with the Patriots, but still has ranked just 17th overall since 2020. Three head coaches were fired on Monday -- Brian Flores with the Dolphins, Matt Nagy with the Bears and Mike Zimmer with the Vikings -- and they each had better records in 2020 and 2021 than Judge. Thus, the jury is still out as to whether Judge will be back for a third season at the helm of the Giants. https://www.nfl.com/news/no-conclusive-indication-joe-judge-will-return-as-giants-hc-in-2022

Nas
I think the decision on Judge will be made once the new GM is in place... he (or she) will have to play an integral part in making that decision... it's evident the owners are horrible at everything football related from evaluating GMs to players and running an organization of any kind including but not limited to a corner store in Brooklyn.... Rich "kids" who have no business being business men let alone owners of a storied franchise like the New York football Giants.

The big problem with that is Coaches are getting interviewed now, if there is not a new GM in right away they will be picking through the coaches that other teams did not want. Agreed but that's a bullet I'd rather bite than to keep a seemingly incompetent coach. Also, there are plenty of fish in the sea... After Coughlin shit the bed we ended up with a shitty one after a shitty one anyway... it's only right for the new GM to have total control... I don't think any GM worth a damn should accept anything less than the final say.
Mr. P
If a GM does come in and choose to keep Judge everyone will assume it wasn’t his choice, right or wrong.

Indeed. This couldn't have been handled much worse. Could have started the GM hunt months ago and been ready for HC interviews today, but nooooo ... So it's going to be Judge, or the least objectionable remaining HC candidate.

As long as the GM stick by it then i.e. he doesn't free Judge midway through the year and is willing to bet his career on Judge. Don't be throwing Judge under the bus at the end of the year, you sink or swim with the HC you choose.

mastershake
Considering they're retaining Judge: So 2022 essentially will be a "throw away" transition year with another 10+ losses, to get us to the inevitable post Judge rebuild starting in 2023...rather than starting the rebuild now in 2022. Even more so if they're counting on Daniel Jones and Saquon as their QB and RB. In other words, there's really no point in watching Giants football in 2022. It's a lost season. And we're just delaying the rebuild.

BronxRik
Rank 32 1 New York Giants 4-13 Previous rank: No. 31 The Giants have their work cut out for them this offseason. A proud franchise cratered in 2021, reduced to punchline status as loss after loss piled up and the team became increasingly non-competitive. Dave Gettleman conveniently excused himself from the mess he helped create, announcing his retirement on Monday. That officially puts Big Blue in the market for a new GM and team builder, but what about Joe Judge? Does the embattled head coach get a third year with a 10-23 record to his name? Should the inconsistent and injury-plagued Daniel Jones still be seen as the future at quarterback? This is one of those messes where anxiety comes from not being sure where to even start. This is a drastic demotion. The NFL will not take them. The CFL will not take them. And good college programs won't take them.
