carl 1010
Pretty easy to see why, with all the rings, MVP's and playoff victories he has to his credit!
CrazedDogs
Pretty easy to see why, with all the rings, MVP's and playoff victories he has to his credit! LOL! Still, but for Stafford, what would that team be?
MikeGL
He's pretty consistent ya know? His QBR is off the charts!
BronxRik
$135 million, $95 million guaranteed. Unbelievable. Watch. He'll pull a Carson Palmer this season.
fringe
If you have a top 15 QB, you have no choice but to pay him.
Herc
Yep they all take turns being the highest paid. Just depends on whose deal is up next
Tempest
LOL! Still, but for Stafford, what would that team be? A team that could be better but is still not. Stafford is another example of a QB who can't seem to get his team to a championship. He has the stats but doesn't have the "magic".

gmenroc
Had Megatron for years...didn't do shit. Lions are just one of those teams...like the Browns...that just doesn't win. They'll have talented players here or there, but shitty coaches...or good coaches and shitty players...or one or two good players on a team of shit. Whatever the case, they just don't get it done. Paying Stafford...he's not the worst...but it's the fucking Lions...why the hell would HE want to resign there?
NightFire
He has $95 million reasons to stay. I doubt he gets that kind of guarantee anywhere else.
Herc
Any qb who wants to go to another team has to play the franchise tag game for 2 years and none of them want that
BronxRik
Cousins may change that. Maybe he didn't get a long term deal, but he'll get a shit ton of guaranteed money. He'll be able to move on if he wants to after this 2nd franchise tag, right? This is why I don't see what the big deal is about playing under the tag. Guaranteed money. Especially if you're a marginal/good player, because let's face it, players know if they're really superstars or not.

They can tag him again but it's like a 40% bump in pay I think so they won't do it. This situation is working out for cousins because he's remained healthy and productive but most players want the security
