gmenroc
So far, I'd grade it a B. I have to be critical of letting both Joseph AND Tuck go and not getting one of the two or three top centers in Mack, BDLP, or EDS. I figured we could recover easily from letting one of those two go on the D-Line, but right now, it's fairly thin I think. Anthony Spencer, whom they had in from Dallas, would ease that concern and automatically jump the grade to a B+. As for the C, we had to settle for our backup plan...no way were we shooting for the guy we got. Had we scored one of those 3 centers, the grade would jump to an A, even with losing Tuck and Joseph (and not replacing them in FA). DRC alone would kick it up half a letter grade depending on his deal.

Sephiroth
We managed to retain Curtis Painter?! YES! Well, we drafted Nassib... and the best way to turn that 4th into a 1st is to bury him on the depth chart, and maybe play him half of a preseason game. Dragon
Considering what EDS signed for, I want to hit Reese with a steel chair, WWE style. Isn't De La Puente still available?

boohyah
You know, I'd like us to reach out to Pascoe. He's quality depth in 2 positions IMO
BleedinBlue
You know, I'd like us to reach out to Pascoe. He's quality depth in 2 positions IMO It seems each year Pascoe is on the fence and after camp, he always ends up on the team. Unless some other team is enamored with him, he'll be suiting up again this coming season. I'd bet money on it. He knows the system - can block and understands the need to keep bodies off the QB and has average hands for a surprise catch now and then for a few yards. He's the definition of "lunch pail footballer". And every team needs those kind of guys playing for team minimum.

gmenroc
We need an updated grade pronto Thinking B+ given they brought in DRC and TH. If they'd just go after both lines...just one guy on offense and one guy on defense...I'd be much more comfortable. Right now, I'm not sold on the C we signed and Boothe leaving creates a hole on the left side. As mentioned previously, Tuck and Joseph created holes...and while Moore could theoretically step in for Tuck and Hankins for Joseph...depth/rotation and unproven ability are both massive concerns. Sephiroth
Who should compete with him? Shaun Hill, David Garrard, Matt Flynn, Jason Campbell, or Kevin Kolb (assuming he's recovered from his injuries) of the guys that are left would all be upgrades over Painter. Guys that have actually had some success in the league as opposed to the guy that helped lead the Colts to a 2-14 season. I think that Nassib right now would be an upgrade over Painter. I agree that Painter is a piece of shit, but we don't know that Nassib is any less a piece of shit. I'd think that a guy like Garrard or Hill would come just as cheap as Painter at this point. I think we only carry 2 QBs this year and Nassib will probably beat out Painter. One interesting scenario that could be forming with the upcoming draft is that a lot of teams are looking for a QB. You can bet that the FO of those teams are well aware of Nassib, who according to most scouts, was the best QB in last year's class. I can see the Giants dangling him for an extra draft pick - perhaps a 2 or a combination of picks over two years. Reese would look like an absolute genius if he got a team to give up a high draft pick for Nassib. Desperation rears it's ugly head during the draft and general managers watch the guy they are targeting get picked before they get the chance. As far as backing up Eli goes - if Eli goes down, we're not going anywhere, regardless of which QB takes over.

Giants have only been carrying 2 QBs for years now...which is part of what made it possible to keep DeOssie on the roster filling a LS only role on ST. I don't think that will change, especially now that we have a KR/PR only guy in Holliday...unless McAdoo has plans to get him involved in the offense in some manner, which would be interesting. As for Nassib, it's a good point, especially if Bortles has as poor a pro day as what Bridgewater supposedly had. I wouldn't necessarily start shopping Nassib yet, but a week or two before the draft...I'd open that door wide open if teams aren't already calling. gmenroc
Yea both what EDS signed for and Boothe leaving left me wonder wtf the FO was thinking. Like I said before, I'm surprised they let BOTH Tuck and Joseph go...methinks one of them would've been retained. Boothe, I'm equally surprised...but moreso because he wasn't dominant for us. He's an average G/C and that proved beneficial last year when we got hit with injuries. In any other year, I wouldn't care if Boothe left..but given Beatty being uncertain, having a new unproven center...bringing in a new FA guard to gel with the rest...there's just not a lot of flexibility there to allow a guy who was dependable if nothing else, walk out the door. All that said, I'm liking the offseason so far...if they grab 1 linemen on each side of the ball before the draft...and go DL, OL, WR in the first 3 rounds...I'll be stoked heading into next season. Judging by this FA frenzy, I have to believe the FO is focusing on offense in the draft. I'm sure they'll do something to shore up the D-line, but I can't imagine them splitting the difference equally between defense and offense as usual. I suspect at least two offensive linemen, a TE, a WR, and maybe another RB. If they could grab someone like Dee Ford in the 2nd, I'd be impressed.
