Plax 4 Prez
Zambrano looks to repeat solid outing Atlanta Braves (12-17) at New York Mets (20-9), 1:10 p.m. ET Following Friday's extra-innings marathon at Shea Stadium, the Mets will rise and shine early on Saturday for the second game of a three-game series with the Atlanta Braves, looking to Victor Zambrano to keep the smiles on their faces. Things certainly looked a lot brighter for the Mets after outlasting their division rivals in a 14-inning endurance test Friday night, with David Wright finally doubling home the winning run off Atlanta reliever Jorge Sosa. The Mets believe the game had importance, not just because it was Atlanta in the visiting dugout, but because it may reflect what type of resilient team New York already is and can further grow to be. "The biggest statement had nothing to do with the Braves," Wright said. "We were down 6-2 late in the ballgame, and we didn't get down, didn't roll over and let them have this one. That is huge." The Mets' grins may fade somewhat, however, when they see Tim Hudson from 60 feet and six inches. They surely didn't have much fun against Hudson when the right-hander fired a three-hitter at Shea Stadium on April 19. Pitching matchup ATL: RHP Tim Hudson (2-2, 2.54 ERA) Hudson's one-hit masterpiece against the Rockies on Monday gave him his second complete game in three starts. His previous one came when he tossed a three-hitter against the Mets at Shea Stadium on April 19. A mechanical adjustment, which has straightened his delivery, has provided much more life to his sinker. He is 4-0 with a 1.70 ERA in his career against the Mets. NYM: RHP Victor Zambrano (1-2, 7.20 ERA) For the first time this season, Zambrano appeared truly sharp in his last effort, twirling six innings of one-run ball at the Nationals in a no-decision. Part of Zambrano's tale is inconsistency, however, and one is never sure what to expect from the right-hander. The Mets seem to believe Zambrano may have turned the corner in his last start, but the smart bet appears to be to wait and see. Player to watch Ryan Langerhans has four hits in his career against Zambrano, including three doubles. Overall, Langerhans is hitting .444 (4-for-9) with two RBIs and a walk against the right-hander.
