Bigblue25
Chase Blackburn Leaked New York Giants Info to Carolina Panthers Teammates, coaches September 24th, 2013 at 10:30 AM By Dan Benton The New York Giants were concerned that Chase Blackburn's in-depth knowledge of their system would cause problems for them in week three against the Carolina Panthers, and swore they would make the necessary adjustments. They didn't. And because they failed to act, they took a 38-0 beating right on the chin and fell to 0-3 on the season. I had an idea of what they run and what they like to do in situations, Blackburn told the Charlotte Observer. We had a great game plan going in. Ive been sharing all the information all week. Guys, all of us, linebackers were out there knowing what to do; (defensive backs) knew what kind of routes they were going to get off the route combinations." Blackburn, who had taken a grand total of zero defensive snaps in the Panthers' first two games, played a pivotal role in Sunday's contest. Not only did he see time on the field, but led the charge emotionally for his team as they also faced, but ultimately avoided, an 0-3 hole. It makes for a big difference when you can play the game at that speed. We were able to play fast because we were aware of what they were going to do," he added. Panthers head coach Ron Rivera was not shy about crediting Blackburn, either. He openly admitted that Blackburn's knowledge of the Giants' system helped them on both defense and special teams. This was one of those things when you have a guy who knows the other team and you sit there and you listen to him when he is watching tape, before the play even happens, he calls the play out, Rivera said. You go, He has a grasp of it. We saw it in practice. He was focused, he was excited and he brought a lot of energy. Luckily for the Giants, the Kansas City Chiefs employ none of their former players. However, on the downside of things, they do employ head coach Andy Reid, who knows Big Blue about as well as anyone. Treehugger
Great adjustments, coach! It's not a "leak" if the guy hasn't been with our team since last year, it's just plain ineptitude.
gmenroc
Dan Conner really helped us out in week 1, didn't he? Seriously, you have to take some of that with a grain of salt. Still, if Blackburn is watching our plays against Dallas and Denver, and he knows what's happening before it happens, and is then justified in it...why wouldn't the Panthers take advantage of it? BronxRik
Chase you IMGRATE! Why do I get the feeling that even if we had Carolina's playbook, we still would have gotten our asses handed to us?
MikeGL
What the fuck? the giants don't change anything do they?

What? Giants had three yards per play against Carolina. The Giants are a dynamic offense

This...not one motherfucker on here has played professional ball...I last touched a football on my high school team...wasn't too bad...but graduated in 81'...yet we can all call the plays with at least 75% accuracy...what about any semi coherent coaching staff... Like we saw the Panthers were in the backfield on just about every play. They are not that good... its just that they studied the system... Saint Gilbride could not disguise a play from his blind grandmother... OMAHA...OMAHA... ... GRANNY IS THE MIKE.... OMAHA.... SET.... delayed draw up the middle...blind grandma slings Eli into Wilson for a 10 yard loss...
Allstarjim
No matter what Blackburn said, that doesn't stop you from getting manhandled physically. There was no protection, no run blocking. What gmenroc said... you take it with a grain of salt. I'm sure he helped, but Blackburn wasn't the reason the Giants played so poorly.
Iceman_NYG
Let's just say our coaching staff doesn't think. Or rather are incapable of it.
SweetZombieGsus
Now Carolina can go ahead and cut Chase, his usefulness is over.
NightFire
Let's hope so because the Giants could use him again. Blackburn graduated with a math degree so he is smart enough to figure out Gilbride's 10 tree system on every snap. Hell him and Eli are probably the only players that know the O plays. As has been pointed out it's no excuse. You should be able to hand the opponent your playbook and still win. It's about execution and will to win. The Giants right now are sadly showing neither. Well, yes and no. I maintain that the other guy knowing what you're going to do before the ball is snapped gives him a huge physical advantage and that, I think, was at least as responsible for us getting "manhandled" as anything. Consider this quote from the original story: It makes for a big difference when you can play the game at that speed. We were able to play fast because we were aware of what they were going to do," he added.
