Plax 4 Prez
Giants-killer Trachsel on tap for Mets New York Mets (12-7) at San Francisco Giants (11-8), 10:15 p.m. ET What do statistics tell us? Not everything, certainly. The Mets face Giants starter Jamey Wright on Tuesday night. His career numbers against the Mets -- 1-2 record and 5.81 ERA -- suggest the Giants are at risk. But look closer. He has made eight starts against the Mets, and his team has won five of them. In his only appearance against the Mets last season, Wright allowed 11 hits and nine runs in four innings. Wright was pitching for the Rockies -- and, more to the point, in Coors Field -- July 27. Six of the nine runs came in the fifth inning, and two scored on a double allowed by his relief. He allowed three home runs, two by Marlon Anderson, no longer a Met, and one by Ramon Castro, not likely to start Tuesday. The Mets regulars have only 45 career at-bats against Wright. So they'll play the game to find out who will win. Pitching matchup NYM: RHP Steve Trachsel (1-1, 3.71 ERA) The last time Trachsel faced the Giants was in his 2005 debut, on Aug. 26. He pitched scoreless, two-hit ball for eight innings. Barry Bonds didn't play then. Is his possible presence Tuesday critical? In his last 23 plate appearances against Trachsel, Bonds has three singles, a double, a home run, six walks, two strikeouts and 10 other outs. Trachsel has had two good starts and one not so good this season. He has a 9-4 record and 2.57 ERA in 19 career starts against the Giants. SF: RHP Jamey Wright (2-0, 2.91 ERA) The Giants have won each of his three starts this season. And he has averaged more than seven innings per start. Opposing hitters are batting .192 against him. Player to watch If you believe in certain courses for certain horses, consider this: Paul Lo Duca, the former Dodger, appears comfortable in the Giants park. He has batted .331 with 16 RBIs in 130 at-bats there. gateb
Yeah, quick start. I have a question, shouldn't Wright be batting third instead of Delgado. He obviously isn't doing so good at #4.

xxi-xxv
No, Floyd and Delgado must be seperated by a righty, makes it tougher for a manager later in the game in a key spot of who and when to bring someone in. As far as the people that wanted Wright #3 or #4 and Beltran 2 they should now realize what the switch hitting Beltran in #3 spot in front of a lefty, righty, lefty combo means for the lineup. Then we put Nady at 5 so it looks like this: 3. Wright 4. Delgado 5. Nady 6. Floyd I've been for the lineup we had to start the season for the most part or at least Beltran batting third.
