GorillaNJ
2010 NFL Draft Prospect Scouting Report: person Chad Jones, S, LSU Jones was called the best athlete on the team by many of his LSU Tiger teammates and it would be hard to argue such an assessment. The free safety was actually a two-sport star for the Tigers, excelling in both football and baseball. He pitched as a left-handed relief specialist as the Tigers overcame Texas to capture the 2009 College World Series title and he even turned down a contract offer from the Houston Astros. He and Jared Mitchell are the only two athletes in history to win a BCS National Championship and a College World Series. Jones has been blessed with natural athletic talent, standing at an imposing 6'3'' and 230 pounds. He can run under 4.5 in the 40-yard dash, has great hands, and--not surprisingly--was one of the hardest hitters in Baton Rouge. Jones started to put all of those tools together on the football field as a junior in 2009. Playing on an LSU defense that has always been loaded, Jones did not start as a freshman (although he contributed significantly) and he started six games as a sophomore. Emerging as a potent defensive force in 2009, Jones finished fifth on the team with 74 total tackles and tied for fourth with 37 assists. He led the squad with three interceptions and he recorded both a blocked kick and a forced fumble. Jones also returned a punt for a 93-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter of a 30-26 victory over Mississippi State. Jones never put up star quality numbers in college, in part because he lacked a ton of experience and decided to enter the NFL Draft following his junior season. Had he decided to return for his senior campaign, Jones could have found himself in the first round of the 2011 draft. For now, however, there remain too many question marks and his 4.57 in the 40 at LSU's pro day was underwhelming. Still, it would not be a surprise to hear Jones' name called in the third round in April's draft.

Nas
hahah So now the Giants have chosen to address defensive end, defensive tackle and their bullpen before addressing middle linebacker. Yep, they don't feel there's any LB worthy of any of the first 3 picks.
gmenroc
hahah So now the Giants have chosen to address defensive end, defensive tackle and their bullpen before addressing middle linebacker. maybe the thought process is to confuse opposing QBs. You know how QBs are always pointing out the Mike or the Middle LB....well think about how it will fuck with opposing offenses when we truly don't have one.... Storm
hahah So now the Giants have chosen to address defensive end, defensive tackle and their bullpen before addressing middle linebacker. LOL. I like our 2nd and 3rd round picks much better than the JPP pick, though. DT and Safety are definite needs...I think the fact Michael Johnson wasn't playing much last year (or was he injured I am not sure?) kind of told us he was falling out of favor with the Giants. That and he's just not very good. But with Phillips injury having potential to plague his career, grabbing a safety is a good insurance policy. The 40 is a little slow, but safeties don't necessarily have to be burners (making up for speed with quick and decisive reading of plays), and I'm liking the rest of the scouting report, especially leading the team in INTs. He's got size, too...and the part about possibly being a first rounder had he stayed for his senior year is also encouraging.

BlueInCanada
From the video it looks like he likes to get his nose into the action, which will be a nice change from CC's run as far away from the WR as possible.
Treehugger
He needs to work on his tackling.
