Gspotter
we're doing well without him and he's doing about the same without us. Maybe he's just not built for his own style of play. I wish him well and really enjoyed him. Now, he's a footnote to our team and I think TC's approach has the inmates NOT running the asylum and that feels very different than Fassel's regime where we were teetering on disaster with some big wins here and there. I hope Shockey isn't quite the dick he appears, but my guess is painfully, yes, he is... Oh well, not our problem and as fads go, maybe the ultra WR/TE is fading to a really good blocking one again. It seems the fervor for K2, Shock, etc. is a little more calm lately especially with the attempt to control the ball through the run game.
JMFP
I think that it's hilarious - Boss is outplaying Shockey, and we get a 2nd round pick. The Saints should call the cops on Jerry Reese for that deal.
BurnThePhilFans
I met Shockey in March while I was on vacation in the Bahamas (at the Atlantis Casino) and was ridiculed for "making it up" but I assure you he is a dick.

Anyone know if he has been playing every down or are they already sitting him to preserve the second?

He's started every game, but I think it hinges on whether they resign him next year, not his playing time. If they resign him, they owe the jets their number 2. If they resign him, they owe the jets their number 2. He has to play in 85% of the snaps. I believe they need to resign him before the second day of free agency period so that is pretty much a given that the Saints wont. I rather have a second and fifth pick this year with this draft class rather a first in 2010.

Sephiroth
I'd like to know what happened to make Brees go off on him like that. It was a third or fourth-and-one... Shock missed his block for starters, then had the pass bounce off his hands, for what would have certainly been a first down. Clutch performance by the Shockster that we've all seen before. Apparently there were a lot of f-bombs involved. You can clearly see Brees mouth the words "Fuck you" to Shock on the sideline. Hilarious. Remember a few months back when Shock was ridiculing Eli for being too low-key and loved the "fire" Brees had? Fire burns sometimes, don't it? I met Shockey in March while I was on vacation in the Bahamas (at the Atlantis Casino) and was ridiculed for "making it up" but I assure you he is a dick. boohyah
So, the bottom line here is, Shockey fucked up, and Brees went off on him on the sideline. And because it's Shockey that's been yelled at, it's okay, and Brees is a cool dude for doing so. Not sure that makes what Brees did as right, I mean we had Plaxicogate here a few weeks ago, and we had people siding with Coughlin and Plaxico, but I think we all agree that the arguing out in the open like that was somewhat embarassing. I mean, is the Shockey hate that bad here?.

Chuck Wagon
I have no feelings toward shockey, fuck him. What I'm happy about is each week you see Eli getting more comfortable with Boss. What, 3 straight weeks with a TD? Some very important passes going his way too. ...and man does that kid have a set of hands on him....I mean he's got hands like Dave Casper. He is just going to get better and better and it is good to see a TE that now who gets a run after the catch - Shock was always falling down or out of bounds.... I don't think anyone is "game planning" for him like they did with #80 back about 4 years ago...but still....big upside. Shock peaked two years ago - and man did he pick a real bad time to play the bitch card. C. Wagon.
echochamber
We have to move on After we use the Saints 5th rounder in the draft of course. Till then, F em. Too much hinges on Shockey being a disruptive force, continuing his overrated play, & being banged up to improve our draft status. I hope, as should every Giants fan, to see these threads till the Saints season ends. I wish Shock nothing but the worst this year.

My thread had little to do with the eruption on the sideline, so much as the Saints' record vs our own. And his play so far has made the trade pure genius. xxi-xxv
Apparently many of his teamates hate him as well .... who knows. We are better off without him and I will always be thankful of the job he did here when he first came. Its just a shame that we did not have good coaching at the time that could reel him in and make him act like a pro at all times.

Nevertheless, what's odd is Shockey used to throw his hands in the air.. embarrassing Eli... Now it got done to him.

That's my point, everybody was all up in arms about him doing this, yet we feel he's getting what he deserves from Brees. Anyway, I guess it's looking more and more like Shockey's career is spiralling out, so getting a 2nd and 5th for him is now excellent business by Reese. Money
It's hard to believe that we got a 2nd and a 5th from the Saints in that deal. I suspect they're probably regretting it by now, considering -- beyond the PFT speculation and the Brees incident -- that Shockey has been outplayed by Billy Miller. It's equally hard to believe that there were people that adamantly insisted we would miss Jeremy Shockey. Where are his valiant defenders now?
