mickeef2
I always ride this guy as a choker, and I was worried right up until the last pitch that he was gonna blow it, but those last two pitches to Giambi were perfect. I give credit to Giambi for fighting off the first one. The second one was unhittable.
feefifoefum
Wagner has been lights out all season. He looks much better than he did last year, and he was good last year. This is the Wagner I thought we were getting all along.

I still contend great closers do not blow games like he did in game 2 last year and great closers are DIFEINTELY on the mound in a tie game in the 9th inning of game 7 AT HOME. Willie had lost confidence in him it was apparent.

RandolphScott
or Wagner to not give up homers to the immortal So Taguchi It happens, all I know is that Shawn Green cannot field worth shit in this league. Watching Gomez/Chavez everyday is fucking awesome, they are fast and hell and can hit very well. Green just seems to be going through the motions, all cause Wilpon doesn't want someone making 10 million dollars to sit on the bench.

In a perfect world Green comes out in the 7th for defense. Green bad fielding aside has not killed them thus far.

Green's had a bit of a renaissance offensively, which is great, so I'd hesitate to accuse him of playing apathetically. His fiedling is a borderline liability, but that's why he's playing RF in the first place. He's absolutely earned a starting spot, and the reason he started after a terrible ST had more to do with Willie's trust in vets than Wilpon's influence. Could be he's just getting used to the stadium, but my guess is he's going to cost the Mets sooner or later. Still, I like what I see from him so far. xxi-xxv
That was more like the Wagner I know and love today. Nice job, Mets! why he was brought in a non save situation was beyond me. Really i know its hard to believe, but the guy is really a better pitcher when that save stat is out there to be had. I always heard it about him and figured it was just Stros/Phils fans being silly. Know what? They were right on. No bitches with Wagner thus far 10 for

gateb
That throw home had me cursing for a good five minutes. What an idiot. He came through at the end though, at least he didn't completely choke. I had tickets lined up for this game and my computer froze, thank god I didn't go.

It's funny, before signing with the Mets, Schoeneweis hadn't given up a homer in 3 years. He's given up 3 in 2 months.

Understandably, he struggles in those situations but if he's warmed up send him in. If you really don't have faith in him, then have a guy like Joe Smith warming up just in case while Wagner is in there.
feefifoefum
That was more like the Wagner I know and love today. Nice job, Mets! That was scary. But to be fair to Wagner, everything about the game got a little crazy when the cats and dogs started falling. What the hell was he thinking throwing home though? What the hell was he thinking throwing home though? He said that there was no way the turf could've allowed him to turn around and go to first. He said he was essentially stuck where he was and had to throw home.

He said he was essentially stuck where he was and had to throw home. That's a lame excuse if I've ever heard one. Anyway, if he wouldn't have fumbled the ball, he would have had plenty of time to plant and throw to first.
