pretty much the way i expected it to be. playing the pats week 17 may be a blessing in diguise if they have everythign clinched by then.

 

this schedule has 9-7 or 10-6 written all over it. hopefully.

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – The previously-announced trip to London to face the Miami Dolphins, a meeting with the Jets and five prime time games highlight the Giants’ 2007 regular season schedule, which was released today.

 

Tom Coughlin’s fourth season as head coach will begin on Sunday night, Sept 9 when the Giants, who last season earned their second playoff berth in as many years, will visit their NFC East rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, in Texas Stadium at 8:15. The game will be televised nationally by NBC.

 

The game in Dallas is the first of five night contests the Giants have scheduled. Three of them are at home. They will host defending NFC East champion Philadelphia on Sept. 30 and another division rival, Washington, on Dec. 16. Both games are scheduled to start at 8:15 and will be televised by NBC, though the kickoff time for the Washington game is subject to change because of the NFL’s flexible scheduling policy.

 

In addition, the Giants will host the New England Patriots on Saturday night, Dec. 29 at 8:15 p.m. The game will be broadcast by the NFL Network. It will be the fourth season in a row the Giants will play their final regular season game in prime time.

 

The Giants will also play two night games on the road: the opener in Dallas and a Monday night game in Atlanta on Oct. 15 that will be televised by ESPN.

 

This is the second year in a row the Giants will play five prime time games. In 2006, they defeated Dallas and Washington and lost to Indianapolis, Chicago and Jacksonville at night.

 

The Giants’ first regular season game against the Jets since 2003 will be played on Sunday, Oct. 7, at 1 p.m. It will be a Giants home game.

 

“It’s a very, very challenging schedule,” head coach Tom Coughlin said. “Week-in and week-out, we will be challenged by outstanding opponents. We have five prime time games, which our team will look forward to with great anticipation. We play the Jets and we have our game in London, which will be very exciting for our fans.

 

“Certainly, each game is an exceptional challenge. We play each of our division opponents in September, so you have to be ready to come off the blocks. Then you reflect on the end of the season, when we play five outstanding opponents down the stretch. We’re on the road each of the first two weeks in December (at Chicago and Philadelphia). Then we play Washington, Buffalo and New England.”

 

Some highlights from the Giants’ 2007 schedule:

 

*The Giants will play seven games against 2006 playoff teams: two each versus Philadelphia and Dallas and one apiece against Chicago, New England and the Jets. The Eagles, Bears and Patriots won their divisions last season.

 

*The Giants will play back-to-back home games just once (hosting the Eagles and Jets on Sept. 30 and Oct. 7) and back-to-back road games only once (visiting Chicago and Philadelphia on Dec. 2 and 9).

 

*The Giants will play all three of their NFC East rivals in the first four weeks of the season. They will travel to Dallas for the opener and Washington in Week 3, then host Philadelphia in Week 4.

 

*The Giants’ meeting with the Miami Dolphins in London on Oct. 28 will be the first regular season game in NFL history played outside of North America.

 

*The Giants will have their annual regular season bye the week after the London game (Sunday, Nov. 4).

 

*The Giants will visit Atlanta on Oct. 15 for the second year in a row. They won in the Georgia Dome last year, 27-14.

 

*The Giants’ final game in both the preseason and regular season is against New England.

 

*The Green Bay Packers will visit Giants Stadium on Sept. 16. The last time the Packers were scheduled to face the Giants in New Jersey was also on Sept. 16 – in 2001. Because of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, that game was postponed to Jan. 6, 2002.

 

*The Giants will have to pack their thermal underwear this season. Their five December games include two night games and trips to Chicago, Philadelphia and Buffalo.

 

*The Giants will open their preseason schedule at home against the Carolina Panthers on Saturday, Aug. 11 at 8 p.m. They will visit the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday night, Aug. 19 at 8 p.m. in a game nationally televised by NBC. The Giants will be the home team in their annual preseason game against the Jets on Saturday, Aug. 25 at 8 p.m. They will play their final preseason contest at New England on Thursday, Aug. 30 at 7:30 p.m.

 

*The kickoff times for six of the Giants’ second-half games will be determined later in the season because of the advent of the NFL’s flexible scheduling policy. Those five games are at Detroit on Nov. 18 (currently listed as a 4:15 p.m. start), vs. Minnesota on Nov. 25 (1 p.m.), at Chicago on Dec. 2 (4:15), at Philadelphia on Dec. 9 (1 p.m.), vs. Washington on Dec. 16 (8:15 p.m.), and at Buffalo on Dec. 23 (1 p.m.).

 

The 8:15 start for the New England game on Dec. 29 is not subject to change.

 

The season again will utilize flexible scheduling in Weeks 11-17.

 

In those weeks, the schedule lists the games tentatively set for Sunday night on NBC. Only Sunday afternoon games are eligible to be moved to Sunday night, in which case the tentatively scheduled Sunday night game will be moved to an afternoon start time. Flexible scheduling will not be applied to games airing on Thursday, Saturday or Monday nights.

 

A flexible scheduling move will be announced at least 12 days before the game. For Week 17, the change may be announced six days before the game. Flexible scheduling will ensure quality matchups on Sunday night in those weeks and give “surprise” teams a chance to play their way onto primetime.

 

Dallas Cowboys

 

Texas Stadium: Sunday, Sept. 9, 8:15 p.m., NBC

 

Giants Stadium: Sunday, Nov. 11, 4:15 p.m., FOX

 

The Giants trail in the regular season series, 52-35-2. The teams have never met in the postseason. The Giants and Cowboys have played each other twice a season every year since 1961, expect for 1967 and ‘69 (one meeting) and 1982 (both games canceled due to the players strike). The teams split the series in each of the last two seasons. Last year, the Giants won in Dallas on Monday night, Oct. 23, 36-22, and the Cowboys took a 23-20 decision in Giants Stadium on Dec. 3. It was the 15th time the NFC East rivals split their season series, and the first time since 1974 that the visiting team won both games. The Giants’ 36 points in the first game was their second-highest total in 45 visits to Dallas and the most points they’ve score there since a 41-10 triumph on Nov. 11, 1962. It was the most points the Giants have scored in Texas Stadium, where they are 11-23. They are 15-29-1 in Dallas. In games played in Giants Stadium, the Giants hold a 17-13 advantage over the Cowboys.

 

Green Bay Packers

Sunday, Sept. 16, 1 p.m.

In a series that dates to 1928, the Giants trail the Packers in the regular season, 24-21-2. The visiting team has won the last three games in the series. Green Bay enjoyed a 37-3 rout on Nov. 15, 1998 and a 34-25 decision on Jan. 6, 2002 (the 2001 season finale), both in Giants Stadium. The teams last met on Oct. 3, 2004, when the Giants defeated the Packers in Lambeau Field, 14-7. Five of the last seven games between the teams have been in New Jersey. The last time the Giants defeated the Packers in Giants Stadium was on Nov. 8, 1992, a 27-7 victory. The Giants are 5-4 against the Packers in Giants Stadium and 14-13-2 record as the home team against Green Bay. The Giants trail in the postseason series, 4-1. All of the postseason games were played between 1938 and 1962.

 

Washington Redskins

The Giants lead the regular season series that began in 1932, 84-60-4. The 148 games played make it the Giants’ most frequently-contested rivalry. The postseason series is tied, 1-1 (with games played in 1943 and 1986). The teams have met twice in every regular season since 1932, expect for 1967 and ‘69, when they faced each other just once. In 2006, the Giants swept the series for the first time since 2002, earning a 19-3 victory in Giants Stadium on Oct. 8 and a 34-28 triumph in the season finale in FedEx Field on Dec. 30. The Giants are 20-11 against the Redskins in Giants Stadium and 4-5-1 in FedEx Field.

 

Philadelphia Eagles

Lincoln Financial Field: Sunday, Dec. 9, 1 p.m.* FOX

 

The Giants lead the regular season series that began in 1933, 76-66-2, and the postseason series, 2-1. The teams have met twice in every regular season since 1933, except for 1967 and ‘69, when they faced each other just once. In 2006, the teams split their regular season series for just the third time in 22 years. They also split in 1990 and 2002. In every other season since 1985, one of the teams has swept the season series. Last Sept. 17, the Giants won in overtime in Philadelphia, 30-24. Exactly three months later, the Eagles picked up a 36-22 victory in Giants Stadium. It was the first time since 1983 the visiting team won both games in the series. Philadelphia also won, 23-20, when the teams met in an NFC Wild Card Game in Lincoln Financial Field on Jan. 7. The Giants are 1-1 in playoff games played in Philadelphia. They are 2-2 in regular season games in the stadium known as The Linc. The Giants are 14-17 against the Eagles in Giants Stadium.

The Giants have won their last three regular season games against the Jets to take a 6-4 lead in the series. They last faced each other on Nov. 2, 2003, when the visiting Giants came away with an exciting 31-28 overtime victory. The Giants last hosted the Jets on Dec. 5, 1999, when Kerry Collins threw for 341 yards and three touchdowns in a 41-28 Giants victory. Since the Jets began playing their home games in Giants Stadium in 1984, the Giants own a 5-2 advantage in the series, including 2-1 as the home team. The teams have faced one another in each preseason since 1969. The Giants trail in the preseason series, 19-18-1.

 

Atlanta Falcons

The Giants trail in the regular season series, 10-8. The visiting team has won the last 11 games in the series, the longest such streak in NFL history. The Giants’ six consecutive road wins vs. Atlanta is tied for the longest current streak with New England (which has beaten the Jets in Giants Stadium six consecutive times) and Minnesota (which has six straight victories in Dallas). The Giants will play in the Georgia Dome on Oct. 15 for the second season in a row. Last year, 15, they earned a 27-14 victory in the Georgia Dome as Tiki Barber gained 185 of the Giants’ 253 rushing yards, and Jeremy Shockey scored two touchdowns. The Giants are 2-0 in the Georgia Dome and 7-3 in Atlanta, where they have not lost since Oct. 1, 1978, a 23-20 Falcons victory. Atlanta defeated the Giants in Giants Stadium in three consecutive seasons (2002-04). The last of those defeats was a 14-10 decision on Nov. 21, 2004, when Eli Manning made his first NFL start.

 

San Francisco 49ers

The Giants trail both the regular season series, 13-12, and the postseason series, 4-3. San Francisco has won six of the last seven meetings dating back to 1992, including two postseason games. The Giants beat the Niners, 24-6, in their last meeting, on Nov. 6, 2005 in San Francisco. They last faced each other in Giants Stadium on Sept. 5, 2002, a 16-13 49ers victory. The Giants are 4-5 against San Francisco in regular season games in Giants Stadium and 6-7 as the host team in the series (including one game in the Polo Grounds and three in Yankee Stadium). In the postseason series, the Giants are 2-0 at home and 1-4 on the road.

 

Miami Dolphins

Oct. 28, 5 p.m. London time, 1 p.m. New York time.

The Giants lead the series, 3-2. The meeting with the Dolphins in Wembley Stadium will be the first NFL regular season game in history played outside of North America. The Dolphins will be the home team. As visitors, the Giants are 2-0 against Miami, winning in Miami in 1993 and 1996. This will be the second time a Giants game scheduled for Miami will not be played there. A 1987 Giants-Dolphins game that would have been played in South Florida was canceled by the players strike. Miami won the teams’ most recent meeting, 23-10, on Oct. 5, 2003 in Giants Stadium.

The Giants trail in the regular season series, 20-17-1. The visiting team has won the last five games in the series. The Giants have won eight of the last 12 meetings, dating back to 1976. They have won their last three games in Detroit in 1988, 1996 and 1997 (a 26-20 overtime triumph on Oct. 19, 1997 in the Silverdome that is the Giants’ most recent victory in the series). The Giants are 6-9-1 overall in the Motor City and 7-12-1 on the road against the Lions (who were known as the Portsmouth Spartans prior to 1934). This will be the Giants’ first visit to Ford Field. The Lions won each of the teams’ two most recent meetings, both in Giants Stadium: 31-21 on Nov. 19, 2000 and 28-13 on Oct. 24, 2004. The Lions won the teams’ only postseason meeting, in 1935.

 

Minnesota Vikings

The Giants trail in the regular season series, 10-8, but lead the postseason series, 2-1. The teams did not face each other in 2006 for the first time since 1998. Their most recent meeting was a 24-21 Vikings victory in Giants Stadium on Nov. 13, 2005. Prior to that game, they had played four years in a row in the Metrodome. The Giants are 3-3 against the Vikings in regular season games in Giants Stadium and 4-6 overall hosting Minnesota. All three postseason games between the teams were played in New Jersey, including the Giants’ 41-0 victory in the 2000 NFC Championship Game.

The Giants trail in the regular season series with the Bears, 27-17-2. They are 10-11 in Chicago, with victories in their three most recent visits to the Windy City (1992, 1993 and 2000). This is the Giants’ first visit to the new Soldier Field, which opened in 2003. The Bears moved to Soldier Field from Wrigley Field in 1971. The Giants first played there in 1974 and went 3-3 in six visits. The teams met last season, when the Bears defeated the Giants in Giants Stadium, 38-20, on Nov. 12. The Giants last defeated the Bears on Sept. 17, 2000 in Soldier Field, 14-7. The Giants trail in the postseason series, 5-3. All three defeats were in Chicago, most recently in a 1985 Divisional Playoff game.

 

Buffalo Bills

They most recently faced each other in Buffalo on Dec. 12, 1999, when Cary Blanchard’s 48-yard field goal with 40 seconds remaining gave the Giants a 19-17 victory in what was then called Rich Stadium. The teams have met once in the postseason, a 20-19 Giants triumph in Super Bowl XXV in Tampa on Jan. 27, 1991.

The Giants trail in the series, 4-3 and have lost the last three meetings. They have faced each other just twice in Giants Stadium, with the Giants winning in 1987 and the Patriots taking a 23-22 decision on Dec. 21, 1996. The Patriots, however, are very familiar with Giants Stadium, because they visit every year to play the Jets. The Giants are 1-2 as the home team against the Patriots, including a loss in New Haven in 1974. The Giants and Patriots last met on Oct. 12, 2003, a 17-6 New England victory. The Giants’ last victory in the series was a 13-10 decision in Foxboro on Dec. 30, 1990.

Jesus....I guess the 1pm game for these Giants is fast becoming rarer and rarer to the point of extinction. :unsure: As long as it is not Monday Night we tend to play up to the level of our NFC East rivals, so those should be competitive games.

I noticed that too . But to tell you the truth these bye weeks are wacked who needs a bye week at week 4? and who can hold out to week 12 or 13 for a bye week?

I'm still pissed that they are playing the Dolphins in FUCKING LONDON! I'll never see the Giants in person...fuck. I'm not paying $300 for two tickets and also needing a flight to New York and maybe a hotel room.

The late games really kill me in England .....because i go to work WITHOUT any sleep .....( usually still drunk )

The games typically end at 4.45 am ! ( and then there can be overtime ) .....but i love every minute of it
