  1. Friday night's victory over the Rangers moved the Yankees five games over .500, the first of many steps manager Joe Torre would like to see his team take this season.

Torre has had a long-standing philosophy that a team's goal each season should be to get to five-games over, then 10, and so on. If a team finds itself 20 games over .500 when the calendar turns to September, the postseason should be well within reach.

"It's important, because you're really competing against yourself all the time," Torre said. "You get your record to a certain neighborhood and you can expect good things to happen, like postseason play. You start putting a record on the board and you refuse to be denied. Five-over is the first plateau."

Saturday, New York looks to take the next step toward the 10-over mark, sending Shawn Chacon to the mound against Kameron Loe and the Rangers.

Chacon starts for the first time since April 27, having had his start pushed back in order to keep Randy Johnson and Mike Mussina on regular rest.

Chacon has won three straight decisions, having held Tampa Bay to one earned run over 6 1/3 innings in his last outing. Saturday's start will mark the 100th of Chacon's career.

The Yankees have won five of their last six games.

    Pitching matchup

NYY: RHP Shawn Chacon (3-1, 4.56 ERA)

Chacon is 2-0 with a 3.21 ERA in his career against the Rangers.

TEX: RHP Kameron Loe (1-2, 4.15 ERA)

Has thrown five or more innings in six of his seven starts in 2006.

    Player to watch

Brad Wilkerson is 7-for-14 in his career against Chacon, homering twice. Wilkerson, who is riding an eight-game hitting streak, has the highest average of any active player with at least 15 plate appearances against Chacon.

Next week the red sox are at Yankee Stadium!!but lets focus on tonight! :flex:

  2. ... :LMAO: yeah, the Cali Yankee fans have to represent for us fans back east..maybe a louisville slugger to the knee caps would do the trick, cause hittin'em in the knoggin won't do it. The big goon took a shot to the head with a ball and still got up (with some help, of course)

I hope his dick like falls off from all the roids he took, i really do....

  3. Wizards: Worst playoff defense EVER....they let Bron Bron get baseline and get a CLEAN layup without so much as a shove????

Then Bron Bron makes the SAME layup in game 7!!!????

Wizards allow a dood coming off the bench who hasn't played since the regular season....beat them with a WIDE open jumper????!!!!

Wizards are the WORST! NBA is so diluted!

The wizards are pretty bad but arenas was on point this series....Lebron was on fire!

    MVP, MVP, MVP!

  4. See the Mets haven't really faced any great teams yet... shit we barely beat the fucking Braves today... we lost to the Nationals the other day...but most of are wins came against poor teams, except the Giants and Padres who really aren't even doing great either... our big test is yet to come... teams like the Cardinals, Rockies, Astros, Reds, Diamondbacks, and the Phillies...those are the best teams in the NL...we have not faced any of those teams yet

oh yeah, and btw very nice sig :TU:

When do you guys play the Reds??there pretty good itll be an interesting match-up
