  1. The way we started, you could say we under acheived by a lot. But, with the injuries, the lack of a difference maker at QB, the terrible secondary, and unimaginative play calling, I think 8-8 is pretty much all we could hope for. As I said before, we didn't beat anyone besides Dallas and the Eagles (both prior to injuries) who ended up with a better record than us. Now, I think Coughlin's field presence sucks and I don't think anyone talks to him during the games but I agree with x, unless we are assured of someone better, i'm not in favor of change for the sake of change.
  2. you'll ask him for a cure for blisters?
  3. i'm willing to give Eli good marks for today, playing with a hobbled Shockey (can't question his heart) and 2nd string receivers for the most part. He hung in there today, the whole team did. If we had another 2 minutes, we may have pulled it out. i thought the announcers were extra hard on eli today. and i never ever want to hear again joe buck say 'a little alice n chains for ya'
  4. i don't want to give up a no. 1 for a coach. everytime a team does that, the team that gets the pick winds up better than the team who gets the coach.
  5. ok, bye tom... now who? be realistic, it's not going to be weiss or belechick. i still like jim mora, jr.
  6. vick will stay in Atlanta long enough to ruin a few more head coaches' careers.
  7. watching that draft on tv: my little nephew said 'i think we should take alexander' i said 'you're nuts kid, dayne runs for 200 yds every carry.' he brings it up often.
  8. first of all to group them with the nats and the pirates makes no sense. business wise, the giants mgmt is very wise and pulled of with the ballpark what most said was impossible. i agree with you about too many old players but that's what sabean likes and it has worked out up until the last 2 years. as far as the farm system, they are weak in position players, yes. but they do produce very strong pitchers. (some of whom I hope they keep). there is no way that the giants can tank and rebuild. the mortgage on the stadium requires them to sell about 90% of the seats each year. the only year they could have possibly done it was this year bc of the allstar game but they chose to try and be competitive and they like zito's persona. he'll only be the highest paid pitcher until next year and if he continues to win 15+ games a year (yes, that's a million a win) he'll be considered a value in a 3 years.
  9. oh that's tough, a family defection. i call 'em the 4 and 9ers or the 4th and 9ers.
  10. Try living and working among big mouth 49er fans, some of whom I made the mistake of calling at half time.
  11. lorf grouped giants mgmt in with pittsburgh and washington. a mgmt team who bought their own park without public money and turn a profit every year. i'm just swiping at him for that. and you know he's better than average, stop the crazy talk.
  12. please delete this thread.
  13. And what about LJ? There is only one true Grandmama!
  14. case in point: Jay Schroeder.
  15. why not? the royals are tied for 1st now.
  16. you'd have to put the red sox in that group for paying 100 mill for a prayer pitcher.
  17. we didn't lose to anyone who ended up with a worse record than ours this year. also, besides eagles and dallas, we didn't beat anyone who ended up with a better record. I'd say that's fairly consistent.
  18. You know what I'm tired of? The people who constantly come on here and say the Giants suck and anyone who thinks they have any hope at all has got to be a moron. And they have to inject their opinion ad nauseum into every thread. So, call me moron, but I'm hoping for a win and if they win a couple of playoffs, I'll pretty much forget about all the flaws and consider it a successful season. Being a fan doesn't only mean we have a right to criticize, it also means we have a right to hope against big odds.
