  1. i don't think it's intelligence, i think he's very bright. the guy's been pampered all of his teen and adult life and told he's the best. he's had early success as a pro too. it's much easier to blame the system or the coaches then to be contrite and say 'there are things i need to learn.'
  2. still didn't hear him taking any blame or vowing to get better. that's not good. the guy has shortcomings.
  3. yeah i use facts and you go off the cuff. http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/fielding/_/position/c/league/nl/order/true http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/batting/_/position/c gee if he's top 10 in hitting and top 10 in fielding, i guess he's top 10, no?
  4. hugh, i really thought you were more of a student of the game, not a yankee hack. don't let facts stand in your way of hating every move that makes the mets better. on every ranking, bengie is a top 10 catcher in the league, not the NL. and your defensive facts are just preposterous, he's more than adequate for a catcher with pop.
  5. none of that is true except he's slow as shit. and he's a bit sensitive to the media which might not play well in NY. Other than that, he's clutch. I don't know where you get the defensive stuff. he's definitely above average and he has quick feet behind the plate. lincecum is one of the toughest pitchers to catch and he had no problem.
  6. i hate that they do this. They lie to us all year and then use it as an excuse when it all falls apart. They do it in baseball too. What happened to the "we were giving him Derrick Ward's plays" excuse? This means there was nothing wrong with the offensive line's blocking all along? Ridiculous
  7. he's better than thomas- so is asante samuels, charles woodson, mike jenkins and darren sharper.
  8. if you watch games besides the giants, you'd see much more worthy candidates.
  9. not that you're judging.... good decision or not, obviously there's pressure to start a guy your boss just paid 20 mill in guaranteed money. fact remains, fox is a damn good coach and if his time is up on carolina, i'm sure there's plenty of other suitors.
  10. had he known johnny unitas (matt moore) was sitting on the bench the whole time, he probably wouldn't have been so loyal. another reason is in september The Panthers just renewed Jake's contract, giving him $42.5 million for a 5-year deal that includes $20 million in guaranteed money. regardless, Fox has been offered an extension, i believe... or a vote of confidence or something.
  11. Carolina coach John Fox. All the talk about his job security was baffling to me because I think he’s a terrific coach. Injuries are no excuse, but when his teams have struggled it’s because they’ve had guys they absolutely can’t lose get knocked out early in the season. Fox still has these guys fighting and, if there was any thought to canning him, it should be squashed after these past two games. (Sorry to those Giants fans who were hoping he’d be defensive coordinator next year.) This team is on the rise and the coach has them believing it. amen, brother.
  12. is that the insurance company with the duck spokesperson? besides the too trendy acronym, i agree with fish. the offense is what kept the giants from being a sub 500 team. probably top 5 in the NFC. a couple too many turnovers but coughlin will fix those.
  13. if they can teach one of the tight ends to occasionally play fullback, they would have an extra roster spot. that seems to be the popular route these days.
  14. i'm rooting for baseball to start early.
  15. for me right now, kiwi and osi are interchangeable. keep one and let the other one go.
  16. Osi's the guy that said he might have played his last game as a Giant, What kind of shit is that? For me, as someone else said, he's a one trick pony. He should be contrite and say " i've got to get better" instead of feeling sorry for himself and blaming others. Right now, he's a sack artist with a good swipe move. The amount of runs to his side that went for long yardage was deplorable. If he wants to go, let him go.
  17. hey UK, you better hope adrian peterson misses the bus to the game. that's your only fantasy hope.
  18. maybe we should buy him a fax machine. coughlin's crime was not realizing that the rest of the league had caught up with the giants (and passed them). that easy schedule cursed us because we believed it was status quo. if we had lost to some teams early (as in '07) he would've been able to make changes perhaps. here, it wasn't until 9 games into the season that the realization came that this team is fatally flawed. i'd welcome him back if he has the energy for another turnaround. with a great QB like ELI, it can be done.
  19. nah, C- there was some quit in those '70's teams. perhaps we didn't question it because there was a lot less talent. regardless, i can't see how you stop rooting for a team.
  20. no, i blame coughlin reese and injuries too. let's face it- no off season move panned out and with the exception of nicks, no draft pick made an impact.
  21. let those without sin cast the first stone. he was on some teams that packed their bags by game 7.
