  1. or "I don't care if I win or lose as long as i build my tough guy image"
  2. That's hardly a shock, since the team surrendered 427 points this year - the most since giving up 501 in 1966. wow. that was in 14 games, no less. and included a 72-41 loss to the redskins.
  3. yeah, osi did nothing wrong. not that it would have made a difference and he absolutely surgically destroyed our defense but there was a couple of "roughing the 40 year old who has a 5 yard buffer zone" penalties. furthermore, the referee seems intent on making sure brett stays healthy. i saw it last week as well against chicago.
  4. denver imploded as much as the giants did.
  5. Even Matt Foley, Motivational speaker couldn't help these losers.
  6. no sweat. as for bulls and hugh, there's a difference between the value of a player AL vs. NL that (and i hate to sound condescending) you guys will never get .
  7. ditto, you old goat -i didn't make that up it's a long standing baseball term- almost older than you even. and how you get that i don't think catchers affect the pitching staff from that is a long strange trip. please don't put words in my mouth. Catchers are expected to take their lumps without grumbling. But the early efforts of catchers to protect themselves met with a lot of flak. A typical reaction came from the crowd at the Polo Grounds when baseball's New York Giants opened the 1907 season against the Philadelphia Phillies. As the Giants took the field, star catcher Roger Bresnahan looked more like a goaltender than a backstop when he squatted behind the plate in a pair of thickly upholstered shin guards. It was the first time a catcher had dared to don the protective gear in open view and the crowd's reaction came as quick as a foul tip and just as nasty. "Spectators howled with delight when a foul tip in the fifth inning rapped the protectors sharply," reported The New York Times. Bresnahan, more concerned about his livelihood than remarks about his manliness, ignored the insults from fans and foes. Bresnahan's shin guards were the final pieces of the catcher's armor, following the glove, mask and chest protector. This kit was lovingly dubbed "the tools of ignorance" by Herold "Muddy" Ruel, a lawyer turned backstop who caught for greats like Walter Johnson with the Washington Senators in the 1920s. Ruel probably would have stayed a mouthpiece if he'd caught in the late 1860s. The first piece of protection for catchers, a rubber mouth protector, dates to that era, purloined perhaps from the sport of bareknuckles boxing.
  8. did i say that? anyway for bulls on parade, i think you have to take into account that he was batting clean up- (not his best suited role) on the worst hitting team in the majors. the fact that he eeked out decent numbers with that team is pretty good. surround him with the likes of a 200 million payroll and you'd see better numbers. i won't argue that he swings at crap and never walks. but that's how he transformed himself into a decent hitter. and you really don't want him on the basepaths too much anyway.
  9. winning is the ultimate talent assessment. everything else means nothing.
  10. not sure you'll get this but drafting one won't help. until they shift focus of importance from DL to LB, it will be a red headed stepchild (like chase blackburn) ;P
  11. that's right. they haven't been a priority. all the draft picks go to the DL and corners. you switch to a 3-4, you make the LB's your priority. works for the team with the most super bowls......
  12. i like green bay's linebackers - i know they run the 3-4 but hawk , matthews, barnett, campman - that's a fine group. I wouldn't be opposed to us going 3-4 now that the D is getting an overhaul.
  13. oh well, that's a credible reference, if elinosepicker34 over at the GMB said it.. why didn't you say so in the first place?
  14. he's the jaguars head coach, jack. too much bubbly last night?
  15. it's not just him but it's really a frustrating ploy. i'm sure they would've said the same about eli's heel had he not improved.
  16. well, if we are going to keep sack specialists in there, which i think osi and tuck are, then we certainly need linebackers. that's for damn sure.
  17. I will raise a glass to celebrate Great Britain's New Year (even though it's only 345)
  18. no, but you can put enough....
  19. oh you mean he hasn't been coddled. maybe so, but he's not accepting responsibility. regardless of scheme, he was benched because he can't play the run.
  20. lol, the old 'i know things that other people don't ' excuse. so tell me what you go by? i watched 95% of his games last year and you've watched maybe 1%. you even asked for my opinion knowing i've seen more of him. face it you're just prejudice against slow latin people.
  21. you know those cubans, they hate puerto ricans. i happen to like molina for 1 year- iif he'd accepted a year, giants would've kept him. but he had no desire to mentor buster posey, who is going to be over his head for a while. i don't blame bengie. he had a year in 2009 that earned him a starting role.
