Ray Handley, the running backs coach in 1986, declined Carson's invitation to attend, continuing his practice of avoiding any connection with the team he has maintained since being fired as head coach following the 1992 season.
of course i looked at the article. and you call that criteria? how about off the top of my head $ spent on free agents/ $ spent retaining free agents / # of winning seasons/ average head coach years/ ticket price/ PSA price/ GM years/ etc?
as i said a bunch of guys farting.
i get it- they just don't seem to have their heart in it. at least when SI does something like this, they develop criteria and a grading system.
this is a bunch of bored guys farting around.
good knowledge but he also started eight of 27 games in the outfield.
if he can hit or throw a curve ball.... point is he was drfted in the 50th round. ( i think piazza even went higher than that)
by no means is it his choice whether he plays baseball or football. he is a long shot at baseball.
i dont think you ca read into picks so literally. giants take the best athlete available. certainly not to "send messages" to other players or clue you into their thought process.
i don't know if it makes a difference if you get a good jump. most of the time you steal on the pitcher. but you're right there's nothing gained by looking if it's a straight steal.
isn't there a middle ground somewhere? like i want my giants hero to be loyal to the team but not go to sleezy motels with underage women. can't we have that?
take strahan for instance. he's critical of the team but constructively. and he talks about the present, not the past. he doesn't talk out of school as they say. and so far as i know, he hasn't been to sleezy hotels. (Jack may have more info on that)
