yes and he was right. staley did nothing but hold matthews off his QB. it's karma that the refs f'd up the downs. also, how is matthews unsportsmanlike "after the play"?
Whomever said "hand strength" is spot on. Either he doesn't have it or he brain farts about holding the ball close and tight. You can bet he'll be carrying a ball around all week with people trying to slap it away.
I don't think he's hurt, I don't think he has any ego in it. Matthews opens his mouth (as any Giants fan knows he does) and he sees it as a way to alert the refs. And he got a RTP today, so it worked.
Who does that? You look for every advantage as a HC. He has found that it works. Like that line shift play that drew the Giants off side a couple of years ago. It was legal but he felt the refs might call it bc they hadn't seen it. So he told the nfl office a week before that he would do it- and it worked.
