  1. Let's talk about "my guy" (mary wells?) since you brought it up. He did not run the defense or call many plays. I think his lack of experience showed through in that area. There were too many check downs and situational strategies. That's why they have had the most delay of game penalties. What he did have was a cohesive team of coordinators that had been with him for a while and they seemed to have a system of success. Don't see that in Tom. He seems hands off with the Coordinators. And maybe, as someone else said, he knows the politics. Being, don't attach yourself to any coord and you'll keep your job. I don't know where anyone gets the idea that I want to "blame" Coughlin for anything. I just want him to be accountable for something. The front office seems to agree as he's going in as a lame duck. They've made an under the table agreement that 2015 will be his last year.
  2. I didn't say it was Tom exclusively. But to give him a pass is "idiotic." 6-10 means the whole team failed. And he is the leader. OK I see they are lame ducking him for next season. Hardly a vote of confidence. More like "The guy we were interested in went back to college so I guess you can stay. We certainly don't want to pay you 6 million+ to sit on your ass. "
  3. Notice not one mention of what Teflon did well this year. Injuries? That's not on him. Depth? That's not on him. Crucial penalties and turnovers? Not Tom's fault. But the 2 super bowl seasons, he was the maestro!
  4. LOL, driz- that could be 5 places. with an easier schedule. hardly a turnaround. lots of garbage time there too. 428 yards passing means crap if you don't win. and there again, if the offense is better, why aren't there more wins. Answer: Because our DC sucks- but Tom is great! (at what exactly?)
  5. Yes but the ultimate responsibility is on the HC. Seems the NY media leaves Teflon Tom alone and attacks the OC's to excess.
  6. Why do we seem to live or die by the strength of the coordinators? Other teams live or die by their HC. Teflon Tom strikes again.

I was shocked too. I was all ready to make an intelligence argument because I knew Smith scored high, like 40 I think.

Yes, i think sometimes you yearn for what you don't have, as opposed to what you need. Kaepernick was so dynamic, the anti-smith. But I'm not sure he has the vision to make the progressions. He's certainly smart enough, shares a wonderlic score with Luck (37). But for some reason, he's stuck. None of that would've saved Harbaugh though. The Bay Area has a thing about confrontation. When I moved out from NY, it took me a while to figure out that people would rather not deal with you if it means an occasional confrontation. Mark Jackson, Harbaugh, many players who don't fit the mold are sent packing. The owners covet good manners above all else. I have no doubt Harbaugh will be successful wherever he goes.
  9. Amazing. Eli should play for food money to throw to that guy.
  10. isn't it amazing that the falcons went from playoff contender to top 10 pick in the same day.

SHARE (2266) Update: Jim Harbaugh to take over at Michigan, per report Rumors that Jim Harbaugh and the San Francisco 49ers were headed for a split began in earnest during the 2013 season. They seemed absurd then. Less so now, but we still don't know exactly why the split is happening. The worst thing Harbaugh did on the field was not win a Super Bowl with the 49ers. The next worst thing he did was let his team slide into a four-game losing streak this season, which could become five if San Francisco loses its season finale against the 11-4 Arizona Cardinals. But even five straight losses can't screw up Harbaugh's record too badly. Win or lose this week, Harbaugh will be let go with the best winning percentage of any coach who spent only four years in the NFL. That record may stand if rumors (LOTS of rumors) that he is headed to the University of Michigan prove true. If the 49ers lose to the Cardinals and Harbaugh never spends another day as an NFL head coach, his .680 winning percentage would rank 10th all time in NFL history. If the 49ers win, Harbaugh's percentage would jump to fifth, behind only Guy Chamberlin, John Madden, Vince Lombardi and George Allen.

I'm not sure its over but even if he goes to michigan its on the heels of success. But go ahead and spin it if it makes you feel better.
  13. Good comparison. And Moss had mostly Randall Cunningham, at the end of his career, throwing pop flies that Moss would run under. I think receiving style wise, they're not very similar. Moss had those long strides and Beckum runs precise routes with ankle breaking cuts. But, comparing rookie seasons, it's close.

Yes, he'll be the highest paid coach in the league in 2 weeks. What a failure!
  15. I looked up medocrity and got nothing! But then I looked up mediocrity and got this:
  16. well fangio is still under contract. but seriously, i've not heard anyone in SF mention Rex. The talk lately has centered around Shanahan or Fangio but I think they want someone more Offense focused
  17. Giants don't need a rebuilding, just a relocation!
