  1. It was time for him to go, but honestly, he didn't get a fair shake here either. I could see him having success with another team if he has a GM who's not a dumbass and isn't saddled with a QB he didn't pick.
  2. Rob Ryan has done nothing to impress me. Flamed out as a DC with four different teams, and couldn't catch on as an assistant until Martindale gave him another shot last year after being out of the league for two. Usually guys that are really good don't spend two years out of the league, especially someone who's got experience as a DC. Plus he loses his shit on the sideline and seems to be just generally bizarre and unstable. Giant ego too. I'll have to see about Bryan Cox. I know he was a hot-head player, but he was also out of the league as an assistant for a while. He also sounds like he's reflected on that time though and is trying to be a better, more approachable person.
  3. Whelp, that coaching room is gonna need at least one grandpa.
  4. Why would we sign Mitch Trubisky? He's going to be expensive and doesn't give you anything that a 4th-round rookie doesn't provide for cheap.
  5. "Hi Eli? Yeah, it's Joe. Good, good. How are you? Remember that phone conversation we had last week? Yeah, well, can I borrow that Death Row chain you got from Snoop? There's a big press conference this week and I need some street cred."
  6. I mean... as long as we're not talking WRs...
  7. We're gonna miss him I think. To his credit, in the first 5 games or so he tried running "his" defense and realized his personnel couldn't cut it so he reverted to what worked for them.
  8. I think we get a third for him.
  9. Our offense is about to undergo a metamorphosis.
  10. I've been interested in hearing your opinion on this. To me, it's really difficult to take the side of a former high-end coordinator and head coach claiming that he's nit being considered for coordinator and coaching positions due to race... but I'm from whitebread land and I'll never truly understand the other side of the coin. I think the Rooney Rule is a mixed bag. The spirit of it is correct, but the application is very clumsy. My guess is that it would eventually lead to the hiring of more minority candidates; these teams all talk, so even in a case like the Giants where Daboll is "the guy," owners and GMs are gonna chat about who else interviewed well.
  11. I was thinking the same thing. "Tomahawks, Braves, etc." if you wanna keep it Native-American themed. "Minutemen, Muskets, Majors, etc" if you want something colonial/American themed. "IRS Audit, Press Corps, Trump Supporter" if you want something truly frightening.
  12. I don't think it goes to any kind of trial, I think the league decides.
  13. He actually compared NFL players... literal multimillionaires... to plantation workers. Fuck this guy.
  14. Does this guy even want to work in the league again?
  15. The Graham situation is a win-win for the Giants. Keep him, and we have stability in the building along with a bright defensive mind. Lose him, and we'll get two 3rd round compensatory picks from what I'm reading, and probably end up with Martindale at coach... who's either a lateral move or possibly an upgrade.
  16. Yep, looks to be official. Sure, he was a smarmy crybaby douchebag, but it still was pretty neat to watch the best QB of all time's career.
  17. Yeah exactly. A third or fourth is not too much to ask for him. He's not getting a second contract here, and he doesnt give you much that a third-round rookie won't be able to at 1/l0 the price. Some really competitive team will think they can get 2018 Saquon outta him and take a shot.
  18. Two teams traded first round picks for Brandon Cooks. Hell, we laid a third for Leonard Williams. Someone with an extra third would take a chance on Barkley.
  19. I think our offense can be up to "respectable" in short order if Shoen makes a few easy steps. 1. Drop as many bloated contracts as you can, and trade Saquon. I think by my last calculation you can free up to 40 million if we trade Saquon and Bradberry/Rudoph and Martinez. 2. Pick up two free agent O-linemen. There is a glut of guards available; Sherff is going to be the big-ticket guy, but Laken Tomlinson and Mark Glowinski are guys that should be within our price range. If we wanna go on the lower (but still quality) end, Andrew Norwell and Trai Turner both played above-average this year, don't seem to be garnering much interest, and can help immediately. If his back checks out, I love RT Tyrell Crosby as a backup. 3. IF we can't trade down, use two picks on linemen. Ikem Ekwonu and Tyler Linderbaum would be my two picks. If we decide to go for a pass-rusher in the first (I love George Karlaftis), then Ed Ingram would be a day-one starter in the second that can play all three positions on the inside. 4. Draft Breece Hall in the second. He's going to be the next Shaun Alexander. So potentially we could have a line that's Thomas-Bredeson-Linderbaum-Tomlinson-Ekwonu, with Crosby as a backup/pusher for starting time, with Breece Hall running behind them. If we got anything out of Gates or Peart in backup roles, it would just be gravy (I think we have to stick with Bredeson for now, though I'd like to upgrade in the future).
  20. Honestly I don't even think their starting RB is very good.
  21. Fat and bald, you say? I think I'm gonna gain 60 lbs in solidarity.
  22. Last year of his deal was this year. He's out for sure.
