I wonder if he hasn't been coached to "play small." I remember watching a video of rookie mini-camp his first season and Coughlin was working specifically with Barden... telling him to "make himself compact" and "keep his arms and legs in close."

That's true, however, when you're being asked to run 8 hard hooks and square-ins against Darelle Revis, I think you can expect that. Motherfucker is 6'6." Can we have him go up for ONE fucking jump ball? At least we'll know whether or not he sucks.

I have mixed feelings about Ramses Barden. On one hand, he hasn't really done dick since he's been here, but on the other, the guy is 6-6 and hasn't been asked to run a single deep route or fade. He seems to have pretty decent hands. Does he suck or is this another case of Kevin Gilbride not knowing how to play up to one of his players' strengths?

I think the three guys that are in are definitely the three that deserved to go. Not sure I'd put that down as "bulletin board material" though. I think it's actually a little bit overrated... the news this week was "Oh my GOD, did you hear what Justin Tuck said! Bulletin board material! Bulletin board MATERIAL! He said, 'I think our fans hate the Cowboys as much as I do!' How scandalous! How out of line! Justin Tuck providing ammunition for the opposite team!" What was he supposed to say, he loves the Cowboys and so do Giant fans? Alex Smith is having a good season... OF COURSE his coach is going to think he belongs in the Pro Bowl.

Congrats... honestly, those are the only two guys besides Cruz that deserved to go.

FANTASTIC call by the officials taking away the Ross TD! As the rules say there must be indisputable evidence to overturn a call, and clearly that receivers elbow did not hit Rolles leg despite the replay showing his elbow hit Rolles leg. Nice job NFL!

I think that's why if we don't make the playoffs, Tom has to go. Upper management knows Cough is too married to his assistants and that's one of the reasons why Fewell's defense is so "decimated..." Palmieri makes sure half of these guys have season-ending soft tissue injuries by opening day. It's tough for a GM to say, "you can stay, but you have to get rid of your defensive coordinator and your S&C coach."

Aaron Maybin... Ryan Leaf... Blair Thomas... just because you have a spot in the first ten picks, that doesn't necessarily guarantee you a good player either. There's lots of #1 overall busts.

So do we root for the Giants to lose so we don't end up with four more years of the same old bullshit? Maybe we'll get lucky and Coughlin will retire.

He's old and I have no idea how much he has left in the tank... could easily be a Brian Westbrook/Hershel Walker/etc. type situation for us. That being said, I'd take him in a second if the price was right.

More and more I'm starting to think that Chuckwagon is right, and we need a fucking asshole on this team. Look at all the great defenses... 86 Giants had Taylor, 85 Bears had Dent and Singletary, the 2000 Ravens had Lewis. There NEEDS to be an asshole on defense (and at least one on offense too) that can actually play... somebody that when you're Antrel Rolle and you talk shit and then whiff, is going to grab your facemask and scream your head off.... somebody who's NOT a 60-year-old coach. Hell, even the Giants of the 90's had Strahan and Armstead. Right now, who's that guy? We have guys that can play but aren't vocal (JPP, Eli) and guys that are vocal but can't back it up (Jacobs, Rolle). We need the complete package, but I'm almost afraid that Reese is so focused on bringing in "character guys" that we may not ever get one. The line lost it's scrapper when Seubert went down; nobody's stepped up since. Pierce left two years ago and Goff/Boley/Kiwi are quiet. Somebody needs to set the tone and it ain't someone who's currently on the roster. I can't blame Reese... when you're promoted to GM and the first week on the job you get Jeremy Droppy throwing a shit fit in front of the whole team... and later, Plax Burress derailing your postseason run... you don't want a primadonna asshole. But that was then, this is now... and right now this team has no accountability to itself.

I feel like Cruz is still pretty raw as well, but he also seems to make more big plays than Welker. You're right though, I'd love to see what he does with another year under his belt.

I think Nicks is a very good receiver, a borderline Pro Bowl guy. Cruz is definitely good as well, as evidenced by his #3 receiving yards. I'd say either of those guys are better than Branch, but Gronk and Hernandez absolutely smoke the guys we've got at TE, and I'd put Cruz about even with Welker. Overall I'd take the Pats' guys over ours (Gronkowski could be a HOFer if he continues on this pace for a good number of years) but it's not like ours are below average... we're not the Redskins.

See, this is one of the things I don't get when it comes to Tuck. We have FOUR staring calibur DE's on the roster, and the idea was "well, you can never have too many pass rushers." So one is hurt all year, and instead of letting him rest, we start him so that he never feels better, "rotate" the other two (of which one gets hurt of course... Jerry Palmieri is part of the problem), and put one out of position at linebacker. Hell, we stick JPP at nose tackle when the other two guys are healthy where he makes exactly ZERO plays so that Osi can rush ten yards upfield and Tuck can limp two yards in the same direction. Call me crazy, but I'd rather have two starting DEs, a solid backup, and a real, playmaking linebacker. I just don't get it... why have backups upon backups if you're just going to start a guy who's hurt anyway an play the others out of position?

Oh, I totally forgot... Manningham has to go too. That pick in the end zone was all him. He's dumb as a post.

I heard on the game today that because of some kind of rule, JPP isn't on the Pro Bowl Ballot. What a shame. I can't think of another DE in the game today I'd rather have than that guy.

That's a great point. You know, you'd be easier to remember if you didn't only show up the two times a year when the Cowboys are over .500.

I couldn't agree with you more. One of the reasons why I said they'd be 7-9 before the season started (and stuck with it through the 6-2 start) is because it's the same shit every year. Start out 6-2, finish 2-6 or 3-5, lose to the Eagles or the Panthers in the first round assuming you make it. Toss in an extra loss or two cuz our guys were going to be rusty (Eli always sucks the first game or two) and voila... 7-9. Pair that with the most boring offseason in recent memory and six DBs on injured reserve and it was a no-brainer... I said it last year and I'll say it again, we kept Coughlin a season too long. Thank God Cowher didn't sign with someone else.
