  1. Honestly, if that's the way the guy feels than I think he's making the right move. Most players would dog it and collect a paycheck for the next 2-3 years, but at least he's being a man and saying, "I'm not into it anymore." Good for him and I hope he has success in his post-football career.
  2. Last year was his "show me" season and he showed that he couldn't get separation, fight for the ball, or stay healthy. I'd have him back at a 4 million per season contract that maybe has some incentives and nothing more. He's not worth it.
  3. Listen, I'm not saying he's a bad player by any means, but honestly, I don't understand the love he's getting both here on the boards and by the fan base in general. Yes, he's been a solid player. Yes, he's young and will probably get better, and yes, he's a home-grown talent. But seriously, does anyone on the boards here think he's worth more than 4 million a season? Case in point: 1. Two years ago Joseph was a full-time starter and we had to bring in Rogers to help the run defense. Rogers got hurt and predictably, the run defense continued to suck. It wasn't until Jenkins and Patterson got here that the defense improved. It can be argued the run D was good due to their additions, not to the play of Joseph. He's not bad at stuffing the run but it can be argued he's not a difference-maker either. 2. Name three big plays Joseph has made in his career. I can remember two from the Super Bowl when I thought he was poised to break out the next year. I'm still waiting for that breakout. 3. Run-stuffing DTs can be had on the cheap at any time (see Jenkins, Patterson). I mean, even if Joseph goes you can plug in Shawn Rogers and get 8 games of Joseph-like play out of him for probably a mil and a half. 4. We have John Hankins, who is also young, stuffs the run, and has a big upside. He played well in spot duty last year. 5. The money we'd have to spend to outbid teams on Joseph (probably around 8 million per) could be better spent signing a real NEED area on the team. I'd much rather see a starting guard, playmaking linebacker, or hell, even a blocking TE than a DT that will be in a four-man rotation next year. This reminds me of Marvin Austin part 2. I'm not saying Joseph sucks as completely as Austin did, but I remember everyone crying the blues when we got rid of the former, and he's now out of the NFL. Let some other team overpay for Joseph and enjoy his 3 sacks per year and adequate-run stuffing ability. Enough with the love; he's not Cortez Kennedy.
  4. If we don't sign Beason, he'll be a great tomato can for whoever comes in to compete for ILB.
  5. Word around the water cooler is this guy is a middling player at best. REESE YOU STOOPID IMGRATE SIGN MC CLAIN NOW!!!!!!!
  6. Ahh yes, Gilly. In 24 years, nobody figured your offense out.
  7. I think there's something weird though like, if you're released you can sign with another team. That's how D'Qwell Jackson got his deal already.
  8. One guy who's flown under the radar but might end up as a servicable pro is Eric Herman. He's got decent measurables and word around the Giants is that he reminds people a lot of Rich Seubert, especially with his attitude and work ethic. Here's an old article on the guy. Wishful thinking probably, I know... but it's not like we've got a whole lot of young talent there either.
  9. I'm not sure I'd call JPP a stud either. He's had one and a half good years out of four... the guy looks to be much more Kevin Carter than Michael Strahan.
  10. Strangely, it's been reported that just when Nicks is about to "seal the deal," he instead comes up limping and has a cab take him home for the rest of the night.
  11. His play was pretty bad two years ago too when he was "healthy." He's a high-risk/low-reward guy now at this stage in his career.
  12. We've had a ton of those guys... Thomas Lewis, Brian Alford, Tim Carter, Ron Dixon... take your pick.
  13. The problem is that Reese and co. have become enamored with athletes instead of football players. This year I hope we hear more, "that pick is a real football player" than "even though he hasn't put it all together yet... what an athlete." I'm tired of the Marvin Austins and fucking Adrien Robinsons.
  14. You guys ready for the wheels to come off? Wheeeee!!!!!
  15. Why should we sign him when we already have Mark Herzlich?
  16. And what a great signing it was. He's the seventeenth ranked punter in 2013!
  17. They bring it up on Big Blue Kickoff Live all the time... called his personality "prickly at best." Someone here too (BigBlue maybe?) was at camp a few times and always says he's a dick... don't even acknowledge people trying to talk to him. Two of my buddies in Jersey said the same thing. Google "Chris Snee Grumpy" and you'll get a bunch of articles about it too.
  18. If cutting him saves us 7 mil in cap money than I think the only thing you can do is offer him a vet minimum type extension that's heavily incentive-laden. I think it'd be great to have someone with his knowledge coach up some young guys but the only problem is that from the beat writers to his teammates to people that have met him in real life, everyone says Chris Snee is a total dick. Not sure how other players would respond to a guy like that.
  19. It all depends on how he can restructure. If you can get him down to a vet minimum type contract, and get some of that remaining 7 million off the cap somehow, I'm all for it. But I'm pretty sure that 7 mil stays there no matter what... even if he retires. Now, here's the thing. If he's really ineffective, then you have to cut him before the season starts and get someone in there that will be able to play. I know that "if you cut Snee, you only save 4 million and have to eat 7" but what good is a player who can't play, no matter what you're paying him or saving? At least that 4 million could go to a one-year deal for a guy that might be servicable. If you can do a vet minimum type deal, and also have 4 mil to bring in a Grey Rugamer type on a one-year plan for insurance, I think it should happen. If he wants his pay cut from 4 to 3 million on top of the seven or something similar, I think we have to wave goodbye to him.
  20. I asked if we should trade JPP and Antrel Rolle for Chase Blackburn.
  21. So you'd rather have NFC Championships instead of Super Bowls? TC has a two decade track record of success, there's no way I'd trade that for the flavor of the week... especially when his "success" isn't enough and he already wants out. Talk about a whiny bitch... that guy is going full Ditka.
  22. Coughlin isn't even close to Harbaugh. TC might argue a call but he doesn't then spit, throw his headset/clipboard, and do an air kick that spins him around in a circle. Oh yeah... and then bitch to the media. In other words, Couglin doesn't embarass me. Harbaugh would.
  23. I'm bitching that Reese completely neglected an entire position on the team so that we could draft a fourth - string DE and a third - stringer at QB.
