From what I hear, McClain is a poor man's Keith Rivers. Rivers was impressive enough that most of us have already forgotten he was on the team for the past two years. This group isn't one to get excited about... again, except for Beason. If that guy stays healthy we won't have to care who the two other guys are.

Exactly. I wonder what he thinks about Dick Sherman, who essentially did the same thing but with being a loudmouthed asshole instead of being gay. Sherman is a hell of a player but his rants sound pretty orchestrated too, and he's got a site that sells merchandise and whatnot.

So let me start with this disclaimer: we're still screwed on the O-line. Snee, Walton, and Beatty are all question marks, and we drafted ONE guy that can provide immediate help. However, I'm pleased with the shift in overall draft philosophy this time around. Instead of drafting "supremely athletic X who hasn't put it all together yet" we got actual football players who were PRODUCTIVE in college. Nat Behre is a perfect example... he may have had shitty combine numbers, but throw the game tape on of that kid... dude is a baller. Additionally, most of these guys were captains and have high football IQs, so you'd hope 2-3 of them could come in and start right away. I'll take the Chad Bratzkes of the world over the Marvin Fucking Austins any day.

So wait... it turns out when your QB excels at the no-huddle, it means we should RUN IT? Somebody get Kevin Gilbride on the phone... this has to be a misprint. Next they'll be telling us is that 3-step drops work when your O-line is in shambles.

This. Honestly, last year we needed 3 starting linebackers at draft time and we drafted zero. We need three starters on the O-line this season... so we drafted a WR, which is really a luxury pick. We had a guy that could have fixed three problems in our sights and went for the sexy player instead. I can see Reese taking a D-lineman and backup CB or safety for the next two picks. If we go another year completely ignoring an entire position on our team (no, John Jerry and Charlie Brown are NOT starters) then I'm going to start banging the "fire Reese" drum.

I'm still scratching my head a bit but with all the OL talent still available, I'm feeling a little better. I mean hell, at least we didn't reach for Kelvin Benjamin or Ryan Shazier in the first. I guess it could have been worse.
