I've looked at his highlight videos online. He looks to have pretty good vision and hands, but only average-to-good speed and below-average size.
Looks like a decent 3rd-down back.
So far, we've gotten two no name LBs, a mid-pack RB, some RT you've also never heard of, and another return guy. Sounds just like last free agency.
Super Bowl!
The Jerry Reese problem.
We have so many gaping holes everywhere that we need to sign a slew of B- to C+ guys just to try and fill out the roster. Instead of getting one or two impact guys we get a whole bunch of also-rans like Charles Brown and J.D. Walton.
I haven't seen Shane Vereen very much but my guess is he's not much better or different than Jennings. It'd be a plus if he was more durable, however.
Chris Borland is good too, for sure... but Mike Tomsula totally reminds me of Ray Handley. Take away all the players they're losing and the strength of their division and I see a 5-11 season on the horizon.
The odd thing is, I'm pretty sure the Patriots don't spend the extra money. Aren't they one of the five teams that are being forced to spend more money this offseason?
There's needs everywhere, but I think they'd be best served going OL.
You can still win games without a stud LB, pass rush, WR, etc. If Eli goes down the season is over.
Normally I'd say this is a sound line of reasoning... but last year, Reese signed multiple players and we actually ended up with a worse record.
At this point, I don't trust Reese for anything besides hitting on whomever the 1st-round pick is.
Seriously, what player was this guy watching for the past four years?
Yeah, he had a big fumble and a handful of other plays. But by "handful" I mean I can count them on one hand.
JaQuain flat-out sucked. How many times did the "best cover linebacker" end up chasing a TE or Fullback in the flat last season?
