  1. Yep. Let's not forget that Donovan McBad played a game on a broken leg after team doctors had cleared him, or for a more recent example, Chris Borland played a game when he was concussed last year.
  2. I think if the coach says "you're healthy enough to play" the correct response is "ok" whether you actually feel that way or not. Keep in mind these are kids in their early twenties that might not have the gall to tell coach they're not "tough" enough to play that weekend.
  3. If memory serves me correctly, JPP (stupidly) elected to have back surgery right before training camp, but most said he wouldn't be ready to start in September. Despite having high round draft picks on the roster like Kiwanuka, Tuck, and Moore (as well as players like Cullen Jenkins that can fill in if necessary) Coughlin elected to start an ineffective JPP for the whole season. He had two sacks and 20 tackles.... literally any DE could have gotten the team that type of production. Nicks was a top-5 receiver that was playing on a sore foot in 2012 in Tampa that got stepped on, aggravating the injury. He wanted a big payday, so he played through the pain despite the team once again having several capable and high-round-pick backups. He finished with 692 yards and was never the same player again... and the Giants rewarded his toughness by letting him hit the free agent market. Coughlin has a track record of this... Tony Brackens, Boselli, etc. He's happy to run players into the ground in the name of "toughness." If the O-line injuries are minor then I'm glad he's finally letting his players get some recuperation time but you also have to ask why with the new CBA so many players are being injured in the first place.
  4. Not for nothing, but Brett Jones is about my size, and I teach animation for a living.
  5. Ereck Flowers day to day with hip flexor injury. Stunner, I know.
  6. You don't use your index finger for speed and power, but you do use it for training... and that will almost certainly be affected. JPP can probably still work out his legs but he looks awfully skinny in those photos, and it's really tough to keep your weight on when you're on painkillers.
  7. That's true. He's a good #3 but I don't think he's a good 2 or 1.
  8. Yep. I don't see him on the team in '16. If you go back and look at threads from last year, everyone hated him until about week 12... and lets not forget he was benched twice in three weeks against the Jaguars and Redskins. Even when he's "good" he doesn't run crisp routes, doesn't catch with his hands, and can't out-jump a DB... and has he ever made a play on specials? He's good at the square-in route and the basket catch but that's about it.
  9. I'll never forget the time he did that one thing. It might have been a play, but I'll have to look it up. Actually, I guess I did forget it.
  10. Yeah I'm hoping he doesn't end up as another Louis Murphy, but we'll see. I could see him beating Randle for a spot.
  11. I'm really pulling for Cruz. In my heart I don't think he's ever going to be the same player but it's tough not to root for the undrafted Pro Bowler from Patterson.
  12. It'll be interesting to see how the Seahawks do now that they have to pay their players market prices. Didn't work out too well for the 49ers last year...
  13. He used to be a pretty darn good receiver. Dunno what he did in Oakland but seems like a pretty good pickup.
  14. Whoa, whoa, WHOA, Lone Wolf! You keep posting shit like this and your fellow Canuck Blue in Canada is going to accuse you of being a Browns fan!
  15. Yeah when you look at it, nobody on the Giants line is playing the same position as last year. It's all either new guys or new positions. I don't think Eli is going to make it through all 16 games to be honest. He's tough as nails and I sure as hell hope I'm wrong.
  16. Left without a contract. Maybe they're looking at Goster Cherilus too? The latter is even more injured though and by all accounts pretty terrible.
  17. I don't think that either.
  18. Yeah that's another weird thing that the Giants do lately though... sign a free agent because of one big game, usually against the Giants. We got Trindon Holliday last year because he gashed the Giants and this year we signed the worst-rated free agent on a 3-13 team (J.T. Thomas) to come in and somehow become a starter because he played well against us. I don't think Vereen will be as useless as those two guys but behind a shit O-line like this one I'm not expecting much either... he doesn't strike me as a guy who can make much happen on his own.
  19. I watched his YouTube highlight videos. He seems to have a knack for finding the hole in coverage and catches really well, but doesn't seem to have much speed or power. Great vision though, and I've always argued that's the most important thing for a back to have.
  20. I just don't wear the rose colored glasses. But we'll see who's right in February.
