  1. Because I think the Giants have finally figured out how to hold 75-year-old Jason Witten to only 165 yards and 3TDs.
  2. The good news is, there's still plenty of room on the Cowher bandwagon if that's the case.
  3. I used to be a lot more "rah-rah" with the Giants, but now I look at is for what it is... a form of entertainment. If a movie was bad halfway though, I'd turn it off... especially if I'd started the movie at 8:30 PM.
  4. Honestly, until recently Reese has been horrible. Those drafts from 2008-2012 were all bad. I hope he's over the hump now, but we'll have to see... but one of the big reasons the Giants are terrible is because these are the years you're expected to get peak production out of those guys drafted from 2008-2012.
  5. But again, we've fucked it up with this team since the beginning of time. Not only could we have put ourselves squarely in the driver's seat in the division... but we likely would have ended Philly's season, and probably Chip Kelley's NFL career. Instead, we put them into first place. The same thing happened with Andy Reid... his team would be on the ropes and then they'd roll into the Meadowlands and hang 30 on us and suddenly he was there another year.
  6. Goodbye, Cooper Taylor. I'll never forget that time you got hurt. Or that one time when you were injured. And of course, who can forget the time on IR... ahh, that IR time...
  7. We were pissed that Gilly had an offense of 5 and 7 step drops when we had a shitty line. Now we probably have a shitty line, but it's being masked by the fact that Eli is only taking a two step drop. Eli is (was) the second-fastest in the league at getting rid of the ball, probably because he has a bad line. It's easy to look good when you're only asked to hold your block for two seconds. The second Philly started jamming receivers at the line and Eli had to hold on to the ball, everything went to shit. Of course, this is all based on highlights... I turned the game off at the Jennings fumble. Maybe I'm totally off base here but... well... it's common knowledge that this line can't run block. If the league catches on that they can't pass block either, we're in for one hell of a long season, fellas.
  8. Yeah I was thinking that the Giants are the Eagles' version of what the Redskins are to us. "Man, this team really needs a win... oh thank God, Washington is on the schedule next... "
  9. So after the Jennings fumble last night, I shut the game off, confident that my Giants would find a way to thoroughly embarrass themselves on Monday Night Football to the Eagles. My fiancee couldn't believe I was turning off the game, but after the Nikita Whitlock whiff on 4th-and-1, the strip (and later, the drop) of Larry Donnell, and the pick-6, I knew exactly how this was going to end. "I've seen this game a million times. It will be an embarrassing loss for the Giants." That was the shorthand of it. The longhand is that I remember the games... the Carl Banks/Randall Cunningham game when I was 8 years old... the Brian Westbrook game against Fassel's Giants... the DeSean Jackson/Matt Fucking Dodge game... hell, the Eli first-down-scramble-and-fumble-untouched-on-the-slide game. I mean jeez... last year at this exact same point, LeSean McCoy had something like 100 rushing yards... and I looked at my dad before the game and said, "he'll have 200 this week" and I was right. Fucked up things happen to the Giants whenever these teams meet... whether it's Buddy Ryan's Eagles, or Andy Reid's or Chip Kelly's. They have had out number for as long as I've been alive (well... we did have a few years of the Rich Kotite Eagles, which was pretty nice). You have to hope this is a one-game hiccup, and not the blueprint for beating this team week after week... but in the quarter and a half of football I watched last night, all the things that made me predict a 7-9 season were on full display. Of course... every cloud has a silver lining.
  10. He's even got a place at the bottom of the Hudson, I've heard...
  11. Hands down, JPP is the best DE on the team. We need to put the defense squarely in his hands, and not point the finger at the other DEs who aren't quite so handy.
  12. We're going to get absolutely fucking destroyed. Put it in the books.
  13. If JPP and Ayers can give us anything in the pass rush department when they return, this could be a top 10 defense.
  14. I like that a ref is finally being held somewhat accountable... though this is about 35 years overdue.
  15. Here's how it happened: the NFL refs are fucking terrible. I don't understand how this is news.
  16. I have to admit that I am stunned... STUNNED... that the team is hard hit with one particular injury (hamstring) on the entire squad. I've never heard of this happening in Jerry Palmieri's awesome conditioning program before. I'm thinking Coughlin will start them both, they'll both be ineffective and on IR within the next two weeks. It's the Coughlin way.
  17. Just like this past game, this game against the Eagles will be no walk in the park. Philly has a LOT to feel good about heading into this game. They completely dismantled the Saints this week, and played really well in the second half. The offense and defense both were dominant, and Felcher Cox (or Cox, Felcher, if you prefer), is playing out of his mind right now. This team is desperate, but they finally see a sliver of light and are going to do everything they can to save their season. Keep in mind the Giants have one more win than the Eagles. ONE. And despite the Giants' victories, it's not like they've looked dominant in a single game this season. On the other hand, if the Giants do win, it's pretty much over for Philly with games on deck against the Panthers and Cowboys. They lose the next three and the wheels are officially off that team. The second half of their schedule is creampuff soft but I don't think they'll recover from the brutal Philly media lambasting them should they go 2-5. We can put the stake in the heart of this team and possibly of Chip Kelly's career with a win... and these are the games that the Giants usually end up losing.
  18. The Giants have reason to be confident. A win like Sunday night has the potential to be a catalyst for the rest of the season. However, a loss in Philly can also completely derail that. Should be an interesting game on Monday Night Football.
