  1. So there's this guy who calles himself Invictus, and he works over at Big Blue View. I've never heard of him, but he had a four part series about fixing the Giants that I found pretty interesting. They're all short-ish reads but there's four of them, so I figured I'd post them here. I don't agree with everything he writes, but for the most part I feel he's got more on the ball than Reese does. Part One: The Core
  2. Cowher has a beard, not a mustache, because he realizes it's not 1985. Can the same be said for McAdoo? I think not. He shaved the beard, leaving only a gnarly dirt squirrel above his lip. Clearly going backwards. COWHER 2018!
  3. I was actually going to make the same comparison, but since Cruz and Beckham have only seen the field together a handful of times I didn't think it was a valid one.
  4. So what will the excuse be this weekend? I'm thinking "he wasn't fully recovered from his injury."
  5. You know what this means. COWHER 2017, BITCHES!!!
  6. Chuck said it a few years ago... they essentially give the players a weapon on their heads. You didn't see this kind of stuff back when the players were wearing leather helmets. If you could somehow go back to something like that or maybe even a hockey-style helmet, you'd probably see a lot less of this stuff.
  7. Tye and Donnell may have comparable numbers for yards and catches, but honestly, both are an embarrassment when asked to block. I'll take the receiving yards and the blocking, but if you prefer a human turnstile setting the edge that's your choice to make. I'm happy without the Shockey shit fits though. And Jennings is Jacobs without the size, speed, or power, but better receiving skills. In his day Jacobs could take over a game; we haven't seen that from Jennings yet. I'd love to see Jennings run behind the same line Jacobs had too... which sort of buttresses my point that Reese hasn't adequately replaced those guys.
  8. The funniest part of this thread is how the Giants linebackers thought they would "lead the defense."
  9. "Talked to him in the huddle?" For what, the 40 seconds between snaps? It's pretty tough to go from full on Hulk to Bruce Banner in 40 seconds. And the results speak for themselves.
  10. Jacobs in his prime to me is much better than Jennings, and wasn't injured as much. Donnell or Tye on their best days can't hold Shockey's jock strap (though I think Tye has potential). Beason is better than Pierce for what, four games a season? You're joking, right? And I didn't even bring up who's replaced Webster and Tuck. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.
  11. That's true, and as noted, Jerry Palmieri's death and dismemberment program has likely ruined a lot of players that may have had promising NFL careers. But take a look at this 2007 roster and show me who Reese has replaced these guys with who's of equal or better talent: Eli Manning - push Brandon Jacobs - no Madison Hedgecock - no Plax Burress - yes Amani Toomer - no Jeremy Shockey - no David Diehl - perhaps Rich Seubert - no Shaun O'Hara - likely Chris Snee - no Kareem McKenzie - no Michael Strahan - no (though this is a tall order) Barry Cofield - likely Fred Robbins - no Osi Umenyiora - no Mathias Kiwanuka - no Antonio Pierce - no Aaron Ross - yes Sam Madison - yes James Butler - no (this is stunning; most of us hated Butler) Gibril Wilson - perhaps. Reese is a poor GM and this roster sucks. I hope (as the Giants seem to hope) that he's turned the corner, but he's still got a lot of work to do to put a roster together that's of equal talent to the one he was left with.
  12. I kind of think that too. That was really embarrassing to the organization and look at that game... Norman goes off and Keuchley comes to talk to him. Then Tillman. Then Cam Newton. The Giants? Some assistant you've never heard of said something to Beckham... no Eli, no Coughlin. No leaders on this team. He never had a seat for a series to cool off, nothing. The fact Coughlin didn't even know that Beckham had been flagged was even more embarrassing. For all the "woe-is-me" hand-wringing on this board about Coughlin, it was time for him to go. Keep some of your legacy and reputation intact.
  13. Besides Victor Cruz, who have they picked up as an undrafted free agent that has made a difference anyway? Herzlich and Paysinger may have seen playing time but they were both terrible, and the jury is still out on Larry Donnell and Will Tye.
  14. The only way I could see it happening is if they really liked McAdoo, but want him to be groomed for a year or two more before they hand the reins to him, or want an "assistant head coach" under McAdoo. They might also just be picking TC's brain to see what he thought of Mac.
  15. If we don't end up with Cowher, I'm kind of warming up to the idea of Mike Smith.
  16. "You Like That?" or "I likeded it?" You know what gets my vote.
  17. Horrible. At least we fixed half the problem though.
  18. You are incorrect. With Belichick, Parcells' playoff record was 11-5, with two Super Bowl rings. Without Belichick, his playoff record was 0-3. Zero playoff wins without Belichick. Moreover, his regular season record without Belichick on his staff was 55-57. With Belichick it was 117-73-1. Those are the facts. We can draw whatever opinions from them that we like, but those are the indusputable numbers. My opinion is that Parcells needed Belichick a lot more than vice versa, though I do think early in their careers they needed each other. There was no word for Aspergers back in the day, and that's definitely what Belichick has... he needed a guy to be out in front that had a big personality, and that was Parcells. And to his credit, Parcells hired Belichick (and Coughlin, Payton, etc). But on his own? He was an average coach. I know it's hard to come to that conclusion with the media fellating Bill Parcells for the better part of two decades, but I'm not impressed with 55-57 and an 0-3 playoff record. I'm not the only one who thinks so either. Yes, he turned around four franchises... on the back of Belichick's defense. None of his teams were very successful on their own. To mention him in the greatest coach of all time discussion (which I'm not saying you did, but the media does in general) is ludicrous. Also, Dick Lebeau was the Steelers' defensive coordinator for three years under Cowher. Cowher went to the playoffs ten different years and won seven times without him. Take what you want from that.
  19. Isn't that funny? Parcells wins with some of the greatest assistants in the history of the league, many of whom have won multiple Super Bowls without him, and he's the Greatest Coach Ever even when his record is pretty average without said coordinators. Cowher wins even though most of his coordinators proved to be terrible on their own, but he's no good because he "has a bad coaching tree." Cowher did well without Dick Lebeau. The same cannot be said for Parcells sans Belichick.
