  1. It wasn't a slide (just re-looked. it up) but I felt like he was definitely giving himself up. Cruz did the same thing against Arizona that same season (I believe) and we kept the ball. Or maybe I just hate the fucking Eagles.
  2. I didn't think that was roughing. Vernon got his hands on him when Wentz still had the ball. Is he supposed to pull a Kiwanuka and let him go run for a first down?
  3. 1. Six years ago in prime time Eli Manning fumbled on a slide. It was ruled a fumble. Carson Wentz has literally the exact same play... no fumble. 2. How fucking mugged did Sterling Shepard have to be to get that fucking call? Outside of a facemask or tackle, it's impossible to be more interfered with on that pass. I know, I shouldn't have turned the game back on after halftime, but what the fuck?
  4. Totally... I just think there's a weird curse that goes along with it. Jim Harbaugh, Mike Smith, Lovie Smith, Dick Jauron, Jim Haslett... hell, Dan Reeves and Jim Fassel for the Giants... it just seems like a lot of those guys end up out of the league within a few years.
  5. Honestly, I think this is a good thing. Most "coaches of the year" are out of a job after four years.
  6. It's true you don't "fire over injuries" but one certainly affects the other. You lose more games when your best players are out, and Coughlin's M.O. has always been to have a training regimen where a large number of his players end up on I.R. or are injured for significant portions of the season. Palmieri had this problem in Jacksonville, in New Orleans for the lone season he was there, and for his entire stint with the Giants. He's replaced and voila... less injuries. I guess time will tell but early returns seem to be that it wasn't "bad luck" for 20 years, it was the conditioning program.
  7. All good picks, and well deserved. Could have made an argument for Snacks, Vernon, DRC, or JPP as well. This is a pretty good roster.
  8. I have no idea why people said players didn't play for him. Even during the 6-10 seasons, his teams never quit. Now, his strength and training regime needed to be updated from 1955, but there's no doubt he was a great X's and O's guy, and a really good motivator.
  9. After leading the league in Adjusted Games Lost for three consecutive seasons, and setting records each year for the category, the Giants now stand at a respectable 18th in that statistic for the season. The proof is in the pudding, fellas.
  10. Figuring out playoff seeding is just a hair below quantum physics.
  11. This is a real pisser. Dude is one of the best offensive players we have. I guess the silver lining is that Perkins is coming along, and provides a lot of the same "make the first guy miss" ability that Vereen had.
  12. Haven't really been keeping up on the details of this, but it's fucking awesome listening to all the Patriots fans complain up here.
  13. I still think Casillas is an average guy. TEs routinely destroy him, and he still takes 2-3 bad angles to ballcarriers each game. On the other hand, he also shows up for 2-3 nice tackles per game too, so he's better than the Pop Warner players we trot out each year. LB is still the weak link, but they're B-, C+ players for once instead of D- guys.
  14. Most of us here have given JR a rash of shit, and rightfully so. But I have to admit, I'm pretty impressed with the team he's put together so far this year. Vernon, Harrison, and Jenkins all are major contributors that look to be worth every penny. Collins is a flat-out beast at safety. A true playmaker. Odell Beckham will arguably be a Hall of Fame player if he keeps playing this way. He's a force of nature out there. JPP contributed well before the injury, but Okwara has been serviceable in his absence. The draft looks to have been a hit. Apple and Shepard have been impressive for rookies, and Adams/Perkins have been good situational players Even that undrafted safety Adams has been pretty good filling in. JR hasn't been perfect... Eli is still going to get killed behind this line... but this is the best Giants team we've seen in a few years from a talent perspective. We've had one playmaker on this team for a while (Beckham) but there's finally other guys that can come up with a big play to win a game for us. This is a pretty decent roster.
  15. Isn't a walkie talkie LESS secure than the regular headsets?
  16. It's so hard to tell. The defense really carries this team, and so far the offense hasn't shown up for most of the season.
  17. I don't understand. Dude had a winning record in 6 out of 22 seasons.
  18. That's a fair point, but respectfully, Diehl and Beatty weren't the ninth overall pick. Tyron Smith was a Pro Bowler at this point in his career, and he was drafted later than Flowers was. You don't draft a guy that high with the expectation that in three or four years they'll develop into a quality NFL player. A top ten pick needs to come in and produce at a high level. Flowers hasn't done that. Flowers probably won't be any good, because "Flowers" is not a football name. If he changes his last name to something really manly... maybe "Cowher..."he might have a chance.
  19. My team squeaked into the playoffs, and beat the #1 seed this past weekend. Actually, it was more like a total annihilation... 120-36. Most of the guys in my league are, "oh yeah, I have to set my lineup" kind of guys, but this only one of two guys who are REALLY serious about winning. Felt pretty good.
  20. Exactly. Expecting the 9th overall pick to perform at a high level is not an unrealistic expectation.
  21. He might be a good RT, or almost certainly a Guard, but he's not a LT.
