  1. I'm thinking we'd have him transition to DT. While he doesn't have the Neanderthally qualities JR likes in his DTs, his post-apocalyptic background and language of grunts would at worst make him a decent situational pass rusher.
  2. This exactly. Wellington Mara said he wouldn't charge for them, he died, and his son decided to fleece the fans.
  3. I would have picked Ookla for my Mok. Dude is strong as an ox, and has an excellent swim move.
  4. I think Webb might be a pretty nice player in 2019, that's just a long-assed time to wait for what's basically a win-now team.
  5. Used to be before the new stadium and PSLs. Now once your name is on the list they call you every offseason and practically beg you to buy tickets. Look at those stands during the games... many of the first tier sections are 1/3 empty, and the VIP section is often half empty or worse. Mara fucked the golden goose. BiC is 100% right about him.
  6. Don't bother. The new stadium is actually worse than the old one and PSLs are a fucking joke. Unless you're a multimillionaire the Maras aren't interested in making the game an enjoyable experience for you.
  7. That Giants/Ravens Super Bowl is a great example of what happens when a finesse offense meets a physical defense... hence why I push so hard for a physical offense.
  8. Anyone who mention's #17's name on these boards again needs to have a lifetime ban. From now on we'll refer to him as "He who shall not be named."
  9. Not for nothing Nas, but this line can't hold the O'hara line's jock straps. That had five solid-to-Pro-Bowl-caliber players. This line has maybe one. Diehl, O'hara, and Snee all made multiple Pro Bowls.
  10. Yes. The O-line is a collosal gamble this season. Pugh and Richburg are good but not great players, and everyone else is below average. If something happens to 37-year-old Eli,this season is over. Ask Dallas what having the best O-line did for them last season. They started two rookies at arguably the two most important positions on offense and still won 13 games. Our LB unit is adequate at best, and I'm probably being generous. No real playmakers in the entire unit. A three down MLB shores up your entire defense for the next four years. The Ray Lewises and Mike Singletarys of the league controlled offenses more than the Warren Sapps and Cortez Kennedys did.
  11. Here's some highlight film vs. Oregon (pretty good) And more vs. Washington (not so good). That kid has some more of Webb's stuff on his page if anyone wants to check it out. From what I gather, he looks as advertised. Has most of the tools you'd want, makes questionable decisions under pressure (most QBs do) and isn't a scrambler, but also not a statue. He's a third-round project. Some balls seem to lack velocity and.or sail from time to time but honestly, he doesn't look terrible, and it's easy to see why the Giants think he can run a west coast style offense with all the short passes he ran in college. He'll be better than Nassib, but for a "win now" team I still don't really understand the selection.
  12. Maybe... but honestly? The ass block is something innate within you. It can't be taught.
  13. I'm not saying we need a second blocking TE, I'm saying we need a complete two-way TE. Power sets like that might be a rarity, but the Patriots have employed it to great effect this year and in years past. Adams may develop into that guy, but I'd personally like another guy like that over a "blocking TE" or a "receiving TE." There were two-way players to be had all over the draft but it seems like we took specialists. They might still be nice players but I'll take a well rounded, 3-down player over a guy that's great at one thing any day.
  14. Nas... the only reason Giants fans think this LB group is good is because we're so accustomed to awful. Kennard is decent. Robinson is a pretty good cover LB but is not a thumper and isn't very physical. Again... a one-dimensional guy. Casillas makes two or three really impressive plays early in the season and it makes everyone forget the 2-3 bad angles he takes each game. He's should be a backup. At least it's not the Williams/Herzlich/Paysinger line up we were trotting out a few years back but I wouldn't call this group good either.
  15. I guess we just look at it differently. I see 3 playmakers on the D-line. I see none at linebacker. Adequate players perhaps, but nothing more. I'd be perfectly fine with Bromley and Thomas if it means we get a sideline to sideline, 3-down MLB. I understand we have to worry about the Zeke Elliots of the league, but that's what MLBs are for too, no? I'm not sure we got much better on the O-line. Fluker was drafted high but looks to be a bust. Maybe he'll pan out, but it looks like we didn't get much better there either. And there's still no FB or a second blocking TE to help in the run game. Again, we'll see. The Rams won a lot of games for a while with a finesse offense, but that was a long time ago.
  16. I disagree that DT was the biggest need Jim, and certainly not a 1-tech like we already have. I'd say OL, LB, TE... and then I'd say DT and RB were tied for 4th. Taking Brantley in the 5th is light years different than Randy Gregory in the 2nd; 5th round picks frequently don't pan out so if you roll the dice and lose, it's not a big deal. At the end of the day, I'm just not a fan of taking one-dimensional finesse guys and role players over multi-dimensional physical players and full time starters. I hope Tomlinson can add to his game and be more than just a run stuffer (I know he had a lot of pressures this season) but I guess we'll see.
  17. I don't think you're going to get a good LT at 23 in pretty much any draft. I think Engram is going to light it up as a pass catcher but that's only 1/3 of what you get out of that position in a perfect world. I know the popular mantra these days is that "power football is dead" but if you look at who's represented in the last 5 Super Bowls, that doesn't seem to be the case. In fact, it seems just the opposite.
  18. 1st - in a draft deep at TE, I wouldn't have taken a one-dimensional TE in the 1st. I'd have taken Forrest Lamp, Kevin King, or Ruben Foster if I was feeling lucky... Taylor and Lewis both had issues too and that turned out pretty well... hell, Burfict has issues and is light years ahead of our best LB. All three of those guys shore up a weakness and are good players. 2nd - passing Cunningham here is just absolutely fucking inexcusable. I can't wrap my head around it. I'd have also been ok with Dawkins or Moton. But if you can get a three down MLB that's going to be the QB of your defense at this pick, you fucking take him. BJ Goodson can be your backup and we finally get rid of Mark Herzlich. 3rd Samanje Perine. You want more physical? You got more physical. I'd also be ok with Dorian Johnson if there had been no OL to this point. 4th - George Kittle. Probably the best all around TE in this draft, and definitely the best blocker. Does three things good instead of one thing great. 5th Caleb Brantley. Go fucking crazy and take a chance. We rehabilitated Kerry Collins, Christian Peter, etc. Take a shot with an actual 3-technique. So my perfect draft would have been: Lamp (need... could shore up RT or RG) Cunningham (holy fucking need and an actual three down player) Perine (physical) Kittle (physical AND need) Brantley (physical and need) I think that would have given us a well rounded team that can do more than run 11 personnel every snap. I know BiC and others have said that's not the MacAdoo way and he's right, but getting a yard on third-and-one is never going to go out of style. Running out the clock with a four point lead will always be important. I think Engram will be a nice player but I don't think we needed more finesse on the team, and again, I'm not really sure what these guys bring that we either really needed or didn't already have.
  19. i just don't think going into the draft many people said we needed more pass-catchers, D-line, and backup quarterback...
  20. I'd feel a lot better if Shane Smith were to stick as a blocking fullback.
  21. Not for nothing Temp, but what needs do you think we drafted to? My first 3 in order would have been LB, OL and TE. We got one of those. I'd love to have someone talk me down from the ledge.
