I'm not necessarily saying we should go after Thomas, just that with one move we could have more or less shored up the line. Fixing LT could give us 4 out of 5 guys that are average or better in that unit. It was a weak LT draft and free agent class though, so I understand us sitting on our hands a bit.

I think all this team needs is a MacKenzie-esque signing and we could do the same again. Imagine this: We trade for Joe Thomas... LT is upgraded. Flowers then moves to RT... upgraded. Jerry, Fluker, and Hart all compete at RG. Richburg and Pugh stay put. Suddenly, we have an above average OL instead of a below average one, at least on paper.

Pretty odd too that O-line was arguably the worst position on the team... and we really didn't address it at all. Literally every guy who was a starter last year is a starter this year (Fluker was running with the 3's this week and may not even make the team).

I seriously don't understand the Kaepernick hate. Yeah, he protested the treatment of blacks by police... by taking a knee during the national anthem. Agree or disagree with it, it's his Constitutionally protected right to do so. Michael Vick ran an interstate gambling ring based around dogfighting. He got another shot. Leonard Little had 3 DUIs, and killed a little girl during his second one... he got another shot. How many second chances did Greg Hardy get? Three? Is what Kaepernick did really worse than those other guys? I understand not wanting a circus show a'la Tim Tebow, but Kaepernick might still end up as a decent quarterback... Tebow was horrible.

+1 People forget that Joseph had one pretty good season and three nondescript ones before he left. He's a nice player now and I'm glad things worked out for him but remember when Shaun Rogers went down Joseph didn't step up... we had the league's worst run defense from that point on. Snacks is arguably the best run defender in the NFL and I'd rather have him than Joseph.

He didn't say he was kicking ass. His comments seemed to me more like damning with faint praise. If the remarks were something along the lines of "he looks like a whole new guy" or "he's going to be a beast this year" I'd be pretty encouraged. "His hands and technique are getting better and he asks a lot of questions" doesn't sound like good news to me, especially for a third year player.

Those are nice quotes by Vernon, but honestly what's he supposed to say about his teammate? "I abuse him every day and his technique is still horrible?"

He's the only LB we have under contract for next season, so he'd better be good.

I think Norman is the best of the second - tier guys but he's not a top tier guy.

I can't think of any two time Super Bowl MVP that's not in the hall. Of course, they dicked around Harry Carson for decades so who knows when he'll actually get in.

I saw an article from last year about Paul Perkins... his measurables were literally average for every category. However, he was arguably the most effective runner. I agree with Echo... vision is definitely the most important stat, and not one that's easily measured. Look at Andre Williams measurables. Dude has everything you'd want besides vision and he's terrible.

Rumors out of camp have a fresh start for Flowers. He's put down some roots at the facility and by all accounts, is set to blossom in his third season.

Must have been reading from different places... i remember that last one about him being a dick (perfect fit for a Rex Ryan locker room I thought)... but aside from that, all I read is that his conditioning was terrible and that he threw the ball better than Mark Sanchez (which is like saying you're the fastest guy at Fat Kid's Camp).

I'd actually love for you to do that because I remember reading just the opposite.

Any word on Fluker? Also, I'd like to petition Sportswrath to have DJ Flukers name permanently changed to his actual birth name, "Danny Lee Jesus."
