  1. You say that now, but in nine months you'll be saying, "I likeded it."
  2. Didn't watch the entire interview yet but yeah, those videos I posted the other day weren't very inspiring. Maybe Gettleman plans on being the alpha and maybe the plan is to also draft a few fiery types on offense and defense. Could still be possible to win but Shurmur doesn't strike me as the type of guy to motivate all by himself. In regards to defense I heard this guy ran a 3-4 but with a stand-up defensive end, so it's really similar to what we were already running.
  3. I was listening to the Pat Traina/Ed Valentine podcast and they were talking about how lackluster Sullivan was at practice. Basically had no personality unless he was yelling at you and said almost the exact same things each practice verbatim for 10 years.
  4. Maybe. He seems a little big and slow for a linebacker, but those tend to be bigger guys in a 3-4 too. He weighs almost 280 lbs right now so it's not like he'd be undersized there. I remember at points he went up to 290 and at others he was down to 265 so there's a bit of flexibility there as well.
  5. I think JPP would be a great fit as a 3-4 DE. From what I understand, they're more run-stuffers anyway, and at the end of the day that's really JPP's strength. We'll just have to wait for the games to stop meaning something so that he can make some plays from that spot. We'll probably need another big, beefy DE on the other side of the line, and I bet Snacks and Tomlinson rotate as the nose tackle (which is good to keep them both fresh). Vernon IMHO would be a perfect fit as a strongside backer in the 3-4. I could see him being an absolute beast there if he stays healthy. But most importantly, switching from a 4-3 really means we're not going to ignore the entire linebacking unit like we did for ten years under Reese, which has me VERY excited.
  6. I'll give you Rex Ryan. The other two coaches have Super Bowl rings and Tomlin has a continued track record of success. What exactly does Shurmur have? A 9-23 record as a head coach and the 10th ranked offense this season? I agree that the Jim Swartzes and Jim Harbaughs of the league flame out... that's not what I'm looking for in a coach. What any organization needs isn't necessarily a rah-rah guy but an inspiring guy. Shurmur is 52 years old... if he was gonna be an inspirational coach, it probably would have happened by now. Maybe the gravitas of Gettleman can carry the team for a bit but like I said, I've worked for guys like Shurmur and by the end of year two shit usually comes unraveled.
  7. Boring and Uninspiring. Pretty much what I get out of him too.
  8. That's true, but they'll be turned off by ho-hum as well. Belichick is pretty drab, but you know he means business. I'm not convinced Shurmur means business. He reminds me of a lot of the weak bosses I used to work for.
  9. Shurmur doesn't strike me as being a leader of men. Here's an older "inspirational" speech after a Browns' win. And a newer interview this week. I've said it before and I'll say it again... men respond to leaders. This guy not only doesn't have a strong tone of voice, but he also has terrible body language... looking away from the camera, frowning, shrugging, etc. He's not assertive. It's gonna be a long five seasons, fellas. But there is a silver lining.
  10. Yeah when you watch the video it definitely looks different. This one? Not so much. Congrats Brady! Just won me a bunch of money! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ot_Y4BeAwRY
  11. Do you think he'll be better than Kelvin Sheppard?
  12. I just wanted Cunningham and couldn't believe he was still there. Tomlinson looks like a good player but he's on a strong unit too; we needed a good LB more than a DT. Case in point: the record number of TE yards and touchdowns against us this year. Again, this is shit that was painfully obvious to anyone besides Jerry Reese. So glad he's gone.
  13. Yeah I can easily imagine a scenario where we're terrible for the next five years.
  14. BiC that makes no sense. The draft has seven rounds... you can be pissed that your team passed on a player in a round other than the first.
  15. Denver DC from 2012-2014. Finished second, 16th,and 3rd overall respectively,though it's admittedly a small sample size.
  16. That Zach Cunningham sure put on a show this year. Gerald Hodges was also serviceable. New Orleans is talking about re-signing him. Devin Taylor and Duke InYourNacho? Both out of the league. Thankfully, so is Reese.
  17. Almost makes you think we should have gone after Forrest Lamp and Zach Cunningham.
  18. As I said in another thread... I like Spags a lot... but three of the last four years he's had a defense in the bottom-two in the NFL, and two of them were historically bad. It's time for a change there.
  19. A headcase coach isn't really the Giants way. Same reason we've never talked to Harbaugh.
  20. The team just got much less handsome.
  21. To be fair, we do have Jonathan Castillas, who is almost good enough to be a backup on most NFL teams.
  22. I was watching part of the game at the water park with my fiancee... when the Jags were driving to go up 3 scores I said, "this is usually where the flags start coming out." 5 flags on the next 2 drives, all against Jacksonville. Like fucking clockwork, I said. I won't be watching the Super Bowl. This product is a fucking joke. It's like they're not even trying to hide it anymore.
