I'm saying when a DE gets his hands on the QB, a sack is making the play. Having the QB throw a TD is not making the play.

If you think that a DE getting his hands on the QB and then having him break free and throw a TD is a good play than I honesty don't know what to tell you.

We're playing the EAGLES. There's a good chance Eli's first pass careens off 3 helmets and is caught by a defensive lineman in stride for a 55 yard TD.

I'm thinking I'll turn it off near the end of the second quarter when the Eagles go up by 3 TDs.

I personally liked it when team building and skill determined games, not injuries and officials, but I understand why someone would like it the other way. It's kind of nice that a team can turn it around in two years but it seems like it means a lot less. For all the talk of the Patriots being the greatest team of all time and whatnot I don't think they'd have even stood a chance against the Buddy Ryan Eagles.

That's not the NFL since it's inception, but it is the NFL since free agency more or less. You can't draft and develop quality backups because they'll just leave to be a starter somewhere ekse.

It's a chicken-and-egg scenario. Honestly, until last week this line wasn't playing much better than last year's line. I remember there was some guy named Tom Brady who, despite being a God on Earth, looked surprisingly mortal in the two Super Bowls where he had pressure in his face all night. Last time I looked that guy played in eight Super Bowls, and DeShaun Watson and Carson Wentz were coming off torn ACLs and "not looking like themselves." Eli's skills have definitely declined, but I'd still take him over about half of the QBs in the league right now. Let's see what happens the rest of the way. But yeah, he's going to look like shit if you don't give him some protection.... just like that Almighty Deity Tom Brady.

I have three free months of Sirius XM so I've been listening to the NFL channel. Pat Kirwin seems to be surprisingly honest with the state of the league. The other day, the topic is "what's wrong with the Eagles" and he says, "Some people say 'Super Bowl Hangover' but I'm not sure you can really measure that so I don't put stock into it. But what you can measure is their games last year and what made them get into the playoffs or the Super Bowl. With most teams, there's 2, 3, 5 games where they had a pivotal call go their way, or they stayed mostly injury free the entire year. That's the state of the modern NFL; the referees and injuries." Dude fucking nailed it.

Can't wait to see Vernon beat his man and bust through the line to still somehow miss sacking the QB four times a game.
