  1. I'm with you. I'd give a two, maybe a late round pick with it, but this "let's trade the #6 for him" or the "give next year's first" stuff I'm hearing outta some places is absurd.
  2. As far as O-line... Jerry Reese did at least try with Flowers, Pugh, and Richburg... those guys just weren't any good. Linebackers were definitely the stepchild though.
  3. When he retires, he gets to join Curry Burns and Dean Pees as former players whose names are complete sentences.
  4. I took a look too. If we added him, it would certainly be interesting. Everything was terrible around him and he didn't play well, like you say... but Shurmur has a reputation for being a QB whisperer. If he can get Case Keenum to play well, it stands to reason he could get the most out of Rosen too. One thing that's weird about him though... he just has a really strange body type. He's 6'4" but he has really short legs, a long torso, and a long neck/big head. He looks like a little kid back there despite his actual size.
  5. I trust what Gettleman is doing, we just have to give it more than 12 months to see if it's actually working. If we're here in 2021 saying the same things we're saying now, we'll know we're in trouble... but yeah, he has to get out from under the shitty JR contracts, he has to draft well, he has to rebuild the offensive line... things we've all been asking for since pretty much forever.
  6. It's a value thing. I definitely didn't want him #2 overall but if he'd have been there in the 2nd I'd have jumped to get him.
  7. I'd probably do this too.
  8. I took a look at Rosen's laundry list of bad things he's done the other day and honestly none seem to be that bad. I mean, the kid put an inflatable hot tub in his dorm room... seriously? https://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2018/4/25/17249082/josh-rosen-draft-ucla-qb-comments
  9. It was a being suggested from the PFF pic that he was a top-5 rusher. He's not a top-5 rusher. A nice player sure, but can you name a single game-changing play he made while he was here? As far as doing it all alone, he played JPP and Cameron Wake and only cracked double digits once. Again he's a good player but he's no world beater. I'd rather have the guard, especially if we're going to stick with Eli and possibly develop a young QB behind him. Gettleman is finally doing what I wanted JR to start four years ago... building a dominant offensive line and running game. That's how you stay successful with an aging QB and bring a young kid along.
  10. To me he seems to be the king of "almost making the play." I always hear, "well, he's top ten in the league in hurries!" which might be awesome when you're playing the Case Keenums of the league, but the Aaron Rodgers' probably threw 3 TDs during your 3 "hurries." Sacks are plays, "hurries" are participation trophies IMO.
  11. I heard Vernon is on the way out.
  12. I think one of the stipulations is that none of Zeitler's contract after this season is guaranteed and at least part of Vernon's is. Gettleman was looking to get out of Vernon's contract and happened to get a really good player to boot. Solder-Hernandez-Zeitler might not be an all-pro line, but you can do a lot worse as a starting point.
  13. This is exactly what I'd do. He played really well at FS in spot duty a few years back.
  14. Media: Will you be looking to trade Odell Beckham Jr? Gettleman: *Scoffs/laughs* We didn't sign him just to trade him. Media: GETTTLEMAN SUGGESTS BOMBSHELL ODELL BECKHAM TRADE, CLEARLY LOOKING TO GET OUT FROM UNDER MASSIVE FA CONTRACT!
  15. I think he'd make an awesome backup on this team... certainly better than that one guy we have that took eight snaps five years ago.
  16. Gettleman, Shurmur, and Rosen: "Making the other teams look like Schmutz."
  17. Well, we got rid of Marc Ross so there's nowhere to go but up. Last year, we had the double black-swan event of having two third round picks actually contribute.
  18. Well if he doesn't pan out as a QB, he can always run for president.
  19. It's all over the news but I don't think it's happening.
  20. No way we'd get better than a 3rd for him, and I think a 4th or 5th is much more likely. Honestly though I think this is probably a bad idea. Yes he's overpaid and underperforms but we just don't have any pass rushers on the team. I know everyone wants him and Collins gone but the question is, who will you replace those guys with? It's not like the signing was Alfred Haynesworth bad.
