  1. For some reason it's really hard to find pass protection film on this guy. This has a pretty good set and analysis at around 4:30.
  2. LT - Ezra Cleveland or Josh Jones - can't believe these guys are still here. Both need a little polish but both should be quality NFL starters. DE A.J. Epaneza - I think a power DE in the Michael Strahan mold would do really well on the team. Kind of a cross between Strahan and when Keith Hamilton played DE early in his career. Seems to win with raw determination. LB Zack Baun - another guy I thought would be gone. Can play the run or rush the passer from the LB position. Gettleman understands that in the NFL you're allowed to do both with LBs. WR Tee Higgins - I have this guy slightly above Michael Pittman. We finally get the tall WR we've been missing since Plax. Dude wins jump balls, period. If we pass I hope Chase Claypool is somehow still there in the 3rd. Who are your picks?
  3. He was my 2nd favorite tackle in the draft. Took a look at some more film of him this week and really liked what I saw. Kind of reminds me of Tyron Smith a little bit.
  4. Olivier Vernon redux. Spend a bunch of money on a guy who almost makes the play.
  5. Lol. I was having a stroll down memory lane today too and came across this. I'd still take my picks over Reese's. Kittle and Cunningham are top-notch, and Lamp could be a player if he could just stay healthy (like the guy we took that year).
  6. I love when pundits say, "well the Giants have a losing season and no shot at the playoffs but their wins right now don't necessarily affect the draft..." Here is exhibit A as to why that's bullshit.
  7. I was listening to Charley Casserly on the Giants official podcast yesterday. He said that from what he's hearing, there Giants are stuck at 4 and there's no market to trade down. Teams aren't in love with Tua due to the injuries, bad Wonderlic and equally bad chalk talks he's been having. Miami and the Chargers are happy to wait in their spots for a QB to fall and Miami in particular is more interested in a top tackle than a QB. Take it with a grain of salt and of course things change... but he also gave the "I know the answer to that but really can't discuss it" answer more than a few times which leads me to believe that he is probably doing some consultant work for some teams. I guess we'll see tomorrow.
  8. With a draft so deep, I'm really hoping for a trade down, perhaps even multiple trades down. And extra 2nd and 3rd would probably net you an above average WR and starting center.
  9. Eli magic begins. https://streamable.com/lux953
  10. Derek Brown. They love them some overrated D-linemen in Detroit.
  11. I think Detroit is more likely to trade out of their spot than the Redskins. They need some serious draft capital and some impact players this year if that front office wants to stay in place, and do not seem to be interested in a QB. The skins are taking Chase Young. Young, Sweat, and Kerrigan is a fucking fierce defensive line... that group will probably win you three games each season all by themselves.
  12. I know I'm in the minority but I really don't want Simmons. I see him as: 1. Too undersized for linebacker, and likely to be hurt often as a MLB at his current weight. If he puts weight on he's unlikely to keep his athleticism. 2. Too much of a reach for FS at #4. 3. Difficult to replace as a guy who plays so many positions in the likely event he gets hurt. 4. Part of the addage, "if you have 3 positions, you don't have a position." Here's kind of feels like Floyd did for me for Chicago a few years back. Dude has been a serviceable but unremarkable pro.
  13. You know I totally forgot that Miami had two more firsts but yeah, I think I would too. Maybe offer our conditional 3rd in the deal for one of their firsts, but obviously try not to have to do that.
  14. For the record, I'd be trading back, then for variety I'd trade back. Right off the top I'd be trading with the Chargers or Miami for their second, or a third and next year's first. I'd be looking afterwards at either swapping with the Raiders for both of their firsts (I'd probably want a 5th too) or the Colts for at least two of their 2nd round picks. This is a draft deep at OT and WR, two huge needs for us, and you don't need a top-10 pick to grab a Pro-Bowl caliber player at those spots this year.
  15. Giants are on the clock. The first three picks have all been QBs. What do you do?
  16. Another thing too... somebody posted a stat two seasons ago along the line of "of JPP's 12.5 sacks, 10 came when the team was down by 3 scores in the 4th quarter." Sound familiar? Yeah, dude puts up stats and makes plays... when they don't impact the game. Last time I remember him making an impact play that affected a game was when he blocked the FG against Dallas back in 2011. He disappeared in the playoffs.
  17. For the record, I supported the JPP trade when it happened. The thing about Gettleman is... I love the theory of what he's doing... I just don't love the practice. Getty came in with the idea to build the O-line and running game to help an aging Eli Manning not have to throw 50 passes a game on a 40-year-old arm, and to help ease in whoever his successor was going to be. I had literally been asking this of Jerry Reese for four years before we got rid of him, when Reese was drafting luxury pieces like Even Engram and Eli Apple. Getting rid of bloated contracts was a good idea so that when the new guy came in we had assets to build the "run the ball, stop the run, rush the passer" group that we wanted. But many of the moves have me scratching my head. This is supposed to be our "big spending" offseason and we blew our money on Blake Martinez and Leonard WIlliams? We got assets for JPP, one of which may still be a player... but Kyle Lauletta? Did anybody really think he was going to be an impact player on this team? Did anyone even think he'd be a situational role-player? What's with the Leonard Williams love... we just got rid of an overpaid guy who "almost makes the play" in Olivier Vernon. Why are we throwing the bank at this guy when we have 3 other competent-to-good DTs on the team? Nate Solder, as stated, is a disaster. I understand needing a competent player there and we really had no other options, but could we have front-loaded the contract? We're in year three and our LT, C, and RT are all below average players. I love that he's paying attention to the linebacker position but I'm not sure the guys on the roster today are better than the guys from last year.... who really weren't great either, but again, Reese left the cupboard bare and you had to have at least NFL-level talent like Ogletree. So yeah, Getty gets one more year from me. If the team isn't significantly better I think it's time to look elsewhere for our team-building future. I hope it's someone who still values a run game and line play but just is a little better at evaluating talent and doesn't assume he knows better than everyone else.
  18. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uk3wEqVHd8I The good news is I trust Carl Banks' analysis. The bad news is... he's recapping the same three plays that are in Blake Martinez' all-time highlight reel.
  19. I'm also reading that Clowney is fucking up the whole DE market. Dude wants 20+ million per year and had three sacks last year.
  20. Watch his tape and you'll change your mind. Worst case scenario is we have an All-Pro RT for the next ten years.
  21. They put him at RT because that's Tua's blindside.
