  1. My personal cutoff for judging if this is a successful season are not is: be a winning team (9 win team), or else fire Gettleman. A few conditions that could change this. If DJ has a really bad year and the OL is NOT the culprit. Significant injuries, especially on defense. But four seasons should be enough as a GM for you to produce a winning team. Even if you want to argue that they really didn't try a rebuild until 2018, three seasons should be enough.
  2. It's going to be hard to get a read on Daniel Jones when this OL will be complete trash.
  3. I'm telling you my prediction right now. The offensive line is already garbage IMO, and not enough to take us to the playoffs (I think we're on track for a 7-10 or 8-9 season)....but on top of that, at some point early on in the season, there will be one injury among the one of the starters on the OL, which combined with Barkley's lingering issues (not at 100%), will be enough for this pathetic giants organization/pundits to sell you on "Well, they weren't fully healthy on offense and didn't have all their players in place. It's not Gettleman's fault." You're going to see stuff like this mid-season...making excuses and people swearing the issue isn't Dave Gettleman, as the putrid offensive line is our Achilles heel yet again. It's going to happen to the giants because, all offseason long, these Giants media pundits have been pimping and overhyping this offseason/free agency like I've never seen before, and completely ignoring the offensive line, or even trying to excuse away the offensive line and lack of OL moves. So you've got a massive crop of loud pundits who swear it was a great offseason for personnel and swear the OL is fine, and they've doubled down too much on that narrative to backtrack now...so the new narrative becomes "Well, the giants made all the right moves had a plan, but that plan didn't come to fruition because key players were injured. It's actually not a bad season that they only one 7-8 games considering all the injuries."
  4. I'm back for the start of the season!
  5. LOL this guy is already off to a rocky start. Combined with the fact that Barkley looks like he won't be healthy week 1, and the fact that we have no OL...I can see the giants org and fans already making excuses after another botched season "Well, they didn't have all their offensive weapons in place!" "Well give Gettleman credit...he got the players he needed to, they just couldn't stay on the field."
  6. I thought it was that Auburn had him practicing to be an LB, but he wanted RB, so he transferred to Southern Illinois.
  7. That's right. It's coming back to me now. I'm sure this was a key factor. I think it's interrelated to ownership really wanting TC....they wanted a disciplinarian who would reign these guys in, and Fassel just wasn't that type.
  8. Technically he was charged last year, but finally entered a plea on the charges today.
  9. https://www.northjersey.com/story/sports/nfl/giants/2021/06/11/new-york-giants-sam-beal-pleads-guilty-gun-related-charges/7657139002/ NY Giants' Sam Beal pleads guilty to gun-related charges from June 2020 arrest
  10. I think it was more they saw TC free'd up from Jacksonville, and liked TC more.
  11. Yeah, the post 2003 giants season is really not the scenario where NFL teams keep their coaches of 5+ years...i.e. trying to start from scratch with a new QB, 12 loss season, plus having to redo the defense as well (the defense was lousy in 2003 as well). Most of the time, NFL coaches don't survive that scenario. You just move on, even if they're an okay coach.
  12. I thought he got the most out of the players he had on offense, which many times consisted of some mediocre to only okay talent. He was dealt a shitty QB crop... Dave Brown, Danny Kanell, Kent Graham, Kerry Collins, but made the most of it, and even helped turn Kerry Collin's career around and make him a solid starting QB in the league. He also took a fledgling Toomer and Barber and helped make them into viable players (they didn't really turn it on until 99 and 00 respectively). He never cured Tiki's fumble problem but he did demonstrate how he could be an every down 1,000 yard plus back. The 49ers playoff game makes me cringe but overall I look to the Fassell years as positive. Certainly much better than the Dan Reeves era.
  13. Only 1 or 2 more wins. (I'm saying 7 and 10 and 8 and 9 respectively in a 17 game season). It's winning season or bust for me. If you're a GM and can't produce a winning team in four years, you're fired.
  14. This season has all the makings of Barkley sitting through week 4, us going 1-3 through week 4, and overall us going like 7-10 or 8-9, but ownership and the GM stupidly calling it a good season because "we played well when we had Saquon."
  15. https://giantswire.usatoday.com/2021/05/27/new-york-giants-saquon-barkley-unlikely-full-training-camp-participant/ Report: Giants' Saquon Barkley won't be a full training camp participant
  16. I'm just another pinko commie Marxist who loves China and hates the US!
  17. It's hard to enjoy a team that's lost 10 plus games four years in a row, and a GM who still can't put together a competent OL four years later. I thoroughly enjoy watching people squirm to defend a GM who's 15-33 in three seasons.
  18. Is this another straw man, where you can't criticize the giants GM, or else you hate the giants?
  19. For some reason we always end up as Madden vs Gettleman doing nothing were the only two options this off-season
  20. He's another no-brainer OL signing that we should make, therefore DG will not sign him.
  21. I didn't realize the timeline was this tight. I thought he'd be good to go by training camp.

  23. Overall agree, but I think Ximenes makes it over Anderson or Brown. Way too early to give up on Xman. He had some flashes when he's been healthy, and he's in only year 3 of his rookie contract.
