  1. No big deal actually...we simply lost another backup guard to injury. No change in the capability of this line. How's that Kevin Zeitler move looking now? Maybe Nate Solder can move inside...
  2. Actual pic of me as a Giants fan the last four years
  3. He astonishingly was our best OL last year in large part because the rest of the line was putrid, and that's even as he was playing injured.
  4. That's fair. I just think it's bizarre that we couldn't find a way to retain him for something far less than $14M but more than $4M. It's also a joke that Solder is still on this roster, regardless of his restructuring.
  5. His contract wasn't guaranteed, lol....only $2M of dead cap against a $14M cap number. How do you get them to accept less? You guys literally just spent this entire thread bragging about negotiating down Solders contract....
  6. I'm saying don't even let it get to that point. But even if it does, I don't buy the notion that we can't beat that deal or that we couldn't find a other replacement....and instead have to rely on Fulton and Hernandez instead.
  7. No, I'm saying DG should have found a way to pay him less but still keep him. Ie pay him the $2M in dead cap plus the Ravens offer, in order to retain him. At the end of the day, the dead cap + 3 years $22M is what he's making on the Ravens. Otherwise, reinvest and replace him with someone else...not Will Hernandez.
  8. Look at the end of the day, as a GM you are what you're able to produce...and somehow DG fumbled this to the point where we retained Solder, ditched our best lineman in Kevin Zeitler, are now counting on (bust) Will Hernandez at RG, and made no moves to address the OL. That's his record. Meanwhile, RT Matt Peart is currently injured, meaning Solder is currently the RT practicing with the first team. And I'll add the fact that many analysts actually think Matt Peart is better suited to play LT and Thomas better suited at RT, but we have them flipped, which is going to be interesting.
  9. We could have resigned him.
  10. I'm imagining watching the game with you guys, and as Hassan Reddick lands his 5th sack of the game, saying to "we definitely don't need to address the OL. This OL is fine!"
  11. 0h how could I forget...they brought in G Zach Fulton as well... lol. So we have Fulton, John Harrison, and Will Hernandez...on this roster...plus Levine Toilolo as a 4th TE, John Ross at WR 5-6, the latter two who might not even make the team...a total here of nearly $7M in cap space (excluding Solder)....BUT we couldn't find a way to keep Zeitler who signed elsewhere for $4M and is now a STARTER for the Ravens. The jokes write themselves...it's Dave Gettleman stand up hour.
  12. I really enjoyed all the people saying the Giants OL made progress in the back half of the year, while watching them give up 8 sacks to the Cardinals and 7 sacks vs the Ravens....but then watching them win 4 against NFC east teams who had no QB. It was very amusing to witness such mass delusion. I also enjoyed watching people this off-season explain away the signature offseason OL moves to jettison their best OL (in favor of Will Hernandez instead), retain Nate Solder, and bring in the Jets practice squad Center...as if that's not a joke.
  13. The last four years have of watching the Giants have been anything but great to watch.
  14. You're happy with their OL moves this off-season????
  15. It's hard to be thrilled about a franchise who's produced four straight 10 loss seasons, who's signature offseason OL moves were to jettison their best OL, retain Nate Solder, and bring in the Jets practice squad Center...oh and Matt Peart is currently on the PUP list, so our starting right side of the line is Will Hernandez and Nate Solder....the jokes write themselves.
  16. Because if Shake is in a NY Giants thread it takes him two posts or less to change the subject to bitch about the OL.
  17. I would have absolutely taken that Zeitler contract and cut Solder.
  18. We would save nearly $7M though....soo...
  19. The Ravens signed him for $4M....but we couldn't...because reasons.
  20. See the Ravens on the other hand are a competent franchise. They already had Ronnie Stanley, they then bring in Alejandro Villanueva at RT, Zeitler at RG, draft two guards in the mid rounds...to beef up their OL. Mind you on an offense that was already pretty good.
  21. No they could have cut him and saved nearly $7M... And then Zeitler signed for only a $4M cap hit. Also even of you want to for some reason keep Solder, we couldn't scrounge up $4M to retain Zeitler????
  22. Well if it's possible that players improve, then it must be so that it will definitely happen across this OL...where Nate Solder and Will Hernandez are the current starters.. .
  23. Why is the OL going to be better? Because we really really want it to????
  24. Ehh...I just think a losing season, 5 years in a row, would be frustrating. especially Considering the OL, which was bad 5 years ago, is likely to be bad this year as well. This OL is a giant house of cards....and Matt Peart is already hurt meaning Nate Solder (lol) is our starting RT right now. The Giants only OL moves this off-season were to retain Nate Solder, sign the Jets practice squad Center, cut Zeitler their best OL (who then signs with the Ravens for only $4M in cap and is slated to be their starting RG), and to draft no one. The jokes write themselves. The fact that we ditched Zeitler but kept Solder is perhaps the biggest joke which should resonate throughout the season.
  25. Lol you people who think another losing season (5 years in a row) would be okay...so as long as they show "progress" sound like perennial loser franchises settling for "moral victories." Sounds like the Jets and Jaguars to be honest. Cleveland and Buffalo for instance on the other hand are doing it the right way since 2018, and Arizona looks to be close behind having revamped in 2019. Our franchise has become a joke.
