  1. With play like this, he flashes but continues to make too many mistakes and head scratching decisions to justify keeping him as a starting QB if this continues.
  2. It things continue like this, it looks like both the DJ and Barkley picks just didn't work for us, and assuming we have a losing season, I just don't know how we can justify keeping Gettleman.
  3. Gordon now... this team was embarrassing today all around.
  4. I'm starting to get on the "replace Daniel Jones" bandwagon
  5. Every DC in the league knows this Giants OL (still) can't block. They know Garrett will call a tight passing game, with quick pass sets getting the ball out quick and few plays threatening beyond 10 yards of the line of scrimmage. They will crowd the box with 8 men most of the day (exceptions on third and very long), and they will attack this OL, Barkley, and DJ all day long.
  6. Also "you obviously know nothing about the draft." Or "you obviously know nothing about free agency and the cap." "Will Hernandez is going to turn it on this year." "Saquon Barkley is the most talented running back in the league." "We brought in an OL! We brought in an OL! I've never seen this guy play before but instant OL upgrade baby!" A: "The OL played well down the stretch last season." B: "You mean they played well other than in the Cardinals and Ravens games when they gave up 15 sacks?"
  7. Pugh was a decent pick. The problem wasn't him but not filling the other four OL positions around him from 2016 onward. The Giants offenses in 2014-2015 were actually pretty good. It was the defenses at the time who were the problem. 2016 is when the downward offensive spiral happened, led by the OL. We've had a bottom 10 or so offense since 2016. Pugh was also better suited at G than at T. Also injuries derailed Pugh.
  8. Fair enough. Was reading an article awhile back pointing out the likelihood of 4th round or later picks becoming starters, and if I recall it was something like less than 10%, and was miniscule for rounds 6-7. Granted, it also pointed out that teams tend to give higher draft picks more chances and are more likely to hang on to them longer than late draft picks, but still. Everyone wants to land a Tom Brady, Dave Deihl, or Ahmad Bradshaw, but those instances are the exception. Still a gm should hit on picks in rounds 1-3. I'd say you need to produce at least 2 reliable starters per draft, plus one or two additional contributors.
  9. Yeah imagine wanting a few reliable starters out of the draft from four years ago. Crazy right?
  10. 3 out or the 6 are off the team. The remaining, Barkley, Carter, and Hernandez have been underwhelming so far and essentially are in make it or break it years. If they underperform, they're busts.
  11. There's a very good chance the entire 2018 Giants draft goes bust.
  12. My money is on the Raven's having a stellar offense and good OL overall this season.
  13. Also also I'd like to add that instead of drafting an OL, we drafted a WR who has yet to see the field. Meanwhile, the two OL who we could have drafted, Rashawn Slater and Vera-Tucker are slated to start on their respective teams.
  14. I'd also like to add that the Ravens... Zeitler joins a line with Ronnie Stanley and Alejandro Villanueva, two of the best OLs in the league. Just in case you were wondering about how a competent organization builds an OL.
  15. Look, guys the jokes write themselves: - The giants just traded for Ravens G Ben Bredeson and Bengals C Billy Price. o Bredeson is a G who the Ravens ditched in favor of a rookie 3rd rounder and Zeitler, the giants best OL over the last two years, who the Ravens signed for a cheap cap hit of only $4m. In other words, the Ravens now have Kevin Zeitler, a proven reliable OL, and the Giants took the backup lineman instead. o Price couldn’t even make the Bengals starting lineup last year on a terrible Bengals offensive line that was ranked among the NFL’s worst in 2020. - Earlier this offseason, instead of retaining Zeitler, the Giants retained 33 year old OT Nate Solder (who’s been a disaster for this team ever since joining in 2018, and didn’t play later year) arguing that he’s a quality backup behind tackle behind Andrew Thomas and Matt Peart, and isn’t the starter. Subsequently, Peart performed so poorly this offseason that Solder is now the starting RT on this team. - Instead of trying to retain Zeitler for $4M, Gettleman brought in the following lineman whose cap value exceeds $4M: Zach Fulton Harrison Looney Wiggins Larsen Each of these five lineman are now off the team. Two retired, and three were cut. - Meanwhile, Gettleman didn’t draft an OL arguing that he had confidence in the guys who were already here. - Meanwhile Andrew Thomas, the teams #4 pick last year, has looked terrible all pre-season. - Also also, to a lesser extent, Will Hernandez has been moved to RG, a position he's never played at any point in his career.
  16. So the Ravens ditched him in favor of a rookie and Zeitler, the giants best OL, who signed with the Ravens for a cap hit of only $4m Instead of trying to retain Zeitler, Gettleman brought in Fulton Harrison Looney Wiggins Larsen All of whom didn't make the team. More Gentleman follies. Now add Price and Bredeson to the list of garbage OLs. Does Gettleman get like a free Jersey Mike sub for every 5 backup lineman he brings onto this team?
  17. He's the best OL you've never heard of..... who the Ravens ditched in favor of going with a rookie 3rd rounder and by bringing in Kevin Zeitler as starters. Zeitler being the former the Giants OL who they cut in the offseason, who had been the most consistent OL, and whose $4m cap hit we couldn't afford because we instead had to bring in a backup RB, 6th string WR, and the Jet's practice squad center (who just got cut). The jokes write themselves.
  18. This is not even a concern, just curious. What was the deal with Clement? I thought he outperformed Brightwell throughout pre-season, and also looked darned good at times, many times better than Booker.
  19. This guy was so promising on Baltimore that they brought in Kevin Zeitler and drafted two G's in the draft to replace him. Sounds like a NYG Gettleman kind of OL.
