  1. Jackson is an underrated player on our D
  2. Games like these make me feel for DJ at times. 3 different coaches He's never had consistency on the OL. Never had good, reliable Barkley injured frequently (not this year but the last 3 years).
  3. Jesus H Christ this offense can't play two halves of football
  4. Just stupid play calling so far
  5. Well done. This puts it in perspective. Jeesh the WR position lol
  6. From a sense of, after cutting Golladay and if we cut Leonard Williams, we're going to have something like $35M in dead cap money from that alone in 2023, that part about it makes sense. Plus the fact that we still need to add talent to the roster at nearly every position.
  7. Golladay's gotta go next. But yeah I agree with Nas, I don't know about turning over half the roster. It's all going to depend on the fate and what we think the future is with DJ and Barkley. For instance, If we think DJ can be a competent QB for the next couple years, and if we retain him because he continues to stay healthy and play well, then the offseason strategy likely looks a lot different (if he plays as he has, he'll warrant a $20-25M per year contract). If he gets injured again or drops off, and if the QB situation is unclear, then the offseason will look a lot different. Leonard Williams will be interesting. Not sure what we'll do with that contract, but he could be a cap casualty.
  8. Yeah, him being a knucklehead is a big turn off. It'll be interesting. While he's only shown it in a few games, he's flashed potential. I'd say his ceiling is fairly high, but his floor is an injury prone bust or maybe injury prone WR3 at best. A healthy WR3 who catches say around 40-50 balls per year may not be that bad of a deal for KC, considering it's a late 3rd round and 6th round pick, plus considering their offense is already good. If he ends up as a slot guy catching 40-50 per year, they'd probably take it.
  9. He's still a bit unproven, and a bit of a mystery. The one big game he had last year against Dallas is when they crushed us, and he got a lot of his catches in garbage time or against loose/prevent defenses (that one game was like half his production last year, in terms of yards). He played good in the NO game last year, but besides that he's done squat the last year and a half. There's been so any games where he's been a non-factor. We'll see. Maybe KC can straighten him out, but also maybe he's a dud who's injury prone, and/or only a 3rd WR at best.
  10. The doucebag is already lashing out at people on Twitter, lol. Hard pass. Good riddance. Let KC deal with this.
  11. Plus 84' was a year where we weren't sure about Phil Simms, and where he actually previously looked like an injury prone bust, until her emerged that year. Sorta like DJ, though I don't know if I'd say he's emerged yet. But he's slowly making me a believer.
  12. Early returns on him is that he's likely an injury prone player.
  13. I still can't tell if this season is a mirage, but who would we bring in? A trade of like a 6th-7th rounder for a player on a team going nowhere might make sense. Devante Parker DJ Moore Brandin Cooks EDIT: No Brandin Cooks. Contract is too big.
  14. Yeah it all goes back George Young not adapting to the new era of free agency. He had his success prior, back when retaining your draftees was key.
  15. I get that part of it. Mid-late 90's was sort of the end of that era. George Young in general never really adapted to the world of free agency in the 90's, plus the end of the era where you'd develop a QB over a ~5 yr span.
  16. Not that much. $20-25M, nothing more than 3 years, and structured so that you have an "out" in year 3 meaning you can cut him if necessary and still have considerably cap savings without much dead money. On the last point for instance, in Year 4 of Golladays contract has a cap hit of $21M, but we can save $14M in cap space by cutting him, and only have $7M in dead cap. And keep in mind, the going FA rate for franchise QBs is like $35-50M per year, so Jones at $20-25M seems reasonable (again, if he continues, and if he plays at this level, plus the big factor for me is there's no clear alternative next year).
  17. It was an out of touch George Young thinking Dave Brown was magically going to pull a Phil Simms and be good by year 5-6 in the NFL. DB had 3 full years as a starter, (plus 2 sitting behind Simms and Hoss), and not only did he suck, but he got WORSE over time. Granted, he didn't have great talent around him, but still. We all saw how much better this team was once we got a half decent QB, Kerry Collins, in there.
  18. Small related sidenote. For some reason this had me looking up the Dave Brown era. I found it interesting that, for some strange reason after Dave Brown's awful 1996 year, his worst year at QB, apparently the Giants resigned him to a 3 year $13M contract (fairly sizable QB contract at the time). WTF was George Young thinking???? He was then cut a year later.
  19. Yeah I come back to that if a) they stay healthy, and b) keep performing at this level: If I'm Schoen I try to keep these guys, so as long as I'm not breaking the bank. For instance, while Jones has been good, he doesn't warrant like a 4 year $150M contract. Or for Barkley, anything higher than $15M per year would probably be too much considering his injury history and age (26 next year). Jones 3 years $54-60M Barkley 4 years $60M.
  20. Someone needs to teach him to better protect himself. The running is fine, but you gotta avoid contact as much as possible. Josh Allen and others do so successfully without getting hit so much.
  21. If he stays healthy and keeps playing like this, I think something like a 3 year $60M contract is reasonable, especially considering there's no clear alternative next season.
  22. I also think Wink's 2nd half defense deserves some credit. I know they gave up the TD coming right out of halftime, but overall good job in the 2nd half.
  23. Refs were doing their best to keep that game going, and keep the Jags in it.
