  1. Cordy Glenn... go for him if he's there. Can play several OL positions.
  2. If one of these OL falls to us, I think we have to take em.
  3. Two guys I see on as potentially available at #32 are WR's Randle and Wright. Hightower and Kirkpatrick probably won't be around, but maybe the giants are thinking of trading up. Another interesting tidbit is three of those four TE prospects are all considered solid blocking TEs (could be good value for later rounds). Also, I haven't seen this guy play, but his profile sounds intriguing - projected to go in the later rounds. Jerron McMillian S Maine, 5'11 215, 4.42 40 Biography: Three-year starter awarded all-conference honors since his junior season and named to numerous All-American teams last year. Senior totals included 92 tackles/1 interceptions/5 pass breakups and 11.5 tackles for loss. Junior numbers included 58 tackles and a team-leading six pass breakups. Positives: Explosive safety with nice size. Fast moving in every area of the field, takes good angles to the action and works hard to make plays. Has an explosive nature to his game, effectively patrols center field and plays with an aggressive attitude. Quick up the field to defend the run and is a solid open-field tackler. Displays good range moving sideline to sideline and is fast getting outside the numbers to make plays. Negatives: Average ball skills. Displays marginal quickness driving to the ball out of his plant. Analysis: McMillian is a terrific run-defending safety who's also displays the athleticism and movement skills necessary to cover the pass in centerfield. He must polish his technique yet offers upside and could surprise in the NFL. Read more: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/nfl/draft-2012/players/69533.html#ixzz1t0mMMFnt
  4. I know Jim, I wasn't trying to make blanket a statement about SEC, Big Ten backs in general across the entire NFL... just when the giants draft them, Big Ten backs haven't panned out for us, haha. Realistically, it's all just coincidence though that our draft busts RB's come from the Big Ten. You can add onto the list Joe Montgomery from 99, Ohio State our 2nd round pick.
  5. Check that, Adams was also SEC. Still the success rate of our big ten backs is shittier.
  6. Lesson learned.... big ten running backs never pan out, haha. Go SEC all day everyday on RBs.
  7. I like the mentality, but I wonder if he actually believes that, and if it's actually true. He may just be saying it to posture. You never want to reveal your hand.
  8. I wouldn't be opposed if we draft a RB in the first round, especially if we get a guy like Doug Martin.
  9. It's true, Child's wasn't really healthy in 2011 due to his injury at the end of the 2010 season. Prior to the injury in 2010, many scouting circles considered him to be a 2nd round talent. I'd love for Jarius Wright as well, if he falls as far as the end of the fourth round, but Childs could be a good value pick. He performed well at the combine, and during his pro day showed he's back to full health. I really like Child's better in the 5th round, but we don't have a 5th round pick. At the end of the fourth round, again, not looking to hit a home run here, but am looking for a guy who can be a solid #3 receiver, spot start in the near term if there are injuries, and can develop into a #2 receiver down the line. He also has the height and frame to be an end zone target. Anyway, my goal during the draft, whether it be Child's or not, is to pick up a capable WR in the middle rounds - whether it be Child's or someone else. My draft assumes nobody else better falls to us in the 4th round. If available, the other two Arkansas WR's would be great, as would TJ Graham from NC State, Ryan Broyles from Oklahoma (both of whom also have a return game), Tommy Streeter, etc. We'll see - I'm not totally locked into just Childs by any means. If a better WR prospect is there, take him. Here is Greg Child's Profile: 6'3 217, 4.52 40 Biography: Part-time starter the past three seasons, finishing with 41 receptions/518 yards/2 touchdowns as a senior after posting 46/659/6 the prior year. Sophomore totals included 48/894/7. Positives: Nice-sized possession receiver who never elevated his game after a terrific 2008 campaign. Finds the soft spot in the defense, extends his hands and looks the pass in. Easily makes the reception running laterally, fights for the ball and gets up in a crowd to grab the ball. Quickly transitions from making the catch to running after the reception. Works to make the catch away from his frame. Displays soft and strong hands with the ability to snatch the pass from the air. Effectively uses his frame to protect the pass or defeat opponents. Negatives: One-speed receiver who does not display a burst. Lacks a quick release off the line of scrimmage and slows into routes. Analysis: Childs rated high on the list of receiver prospects after his sophomore season, but lost playing time to the speedier, field-stretching wideouts on the Arkansas roster the past two years. He possesses the size and pass-catching skills to be an effective third receiver at the next level and could develop into a No. 2 if he elevates his game. 10. Vendetta's Final Mock Draft! 1 - Chandler Jones, 6'5 266 DE Syracuse I'm convinced that this is a solid pick. In the game tape I've watched on Jones, he's a guy who find ways to put pressure on the quarterback, whether it be pushing back lineman or getting around them. He may be only average against the run to start, and he's played the vast majority at the RE position (where JPP excels), but at #32, you're not looking to hit a home run; you're trying to get a solid player with starting potential who can contribute. The move makes even more sense considering Osi has one year left at best, and Kiwi is also in the last year of his contract. 2 - Mitchel Schwartz 6'6 310, OT California I strongly believe the mantra NFL games are won in the trenches. Schwartz is a guy with the ability to be used at a number of offensive line positions. He should be able to crack the starting lineup as a rookie, and for the giants it can't come too quickly. The giants OL in general produced average results in 2012, particularly in the run game. Diehl, Locklear, Baas and Snee are all +30, and aren't long term solutions. Beatty has one year left on his contract, and Booth is only a rotational player. 3 - Cyrus Gray, 5'10 206, RB Texas A & M Might be wishful thinking of Gray falls this far, but RB's as of the past few years tend to slip, as the NFL game focus has turned to the pass. Gray is an all around back with great intangibles. Not the power back the giants are looking for, but is deceptively strong for his size. Gray is also a definite need considering Bradshaw generally can't carry for 250+ attempts consistently. Solid receiver out of the backfield, and not afraid to put up a block as well. Might be an exaggeration, but when I watched games of him, at times I thought he showed flashes better than Trenton Richardson. 4 - Keenan Robinson, 6'3 235, LB Texas Solid and underrated LB prospect. Another player who might go higher than people think. 4 - Greg Childs, 6'3 217, WR Arkansas Large possession receiver with 3rd or 2nd wideout potential. Ran a respectable 4.55 at the combine. Overshadowed by fellow Arkanzas receivers Joe Adams and Jarious Wright, and could be a potential steal in the 4th round. 6 - Corey Harkey 6'4 260, (Blocking) TE UCLA A role player to help support the running game. Considered one of the top blocking TE's in this class. 7 - Ethan Johnson, 6'4 300, DT Notre Dame Was a solid starter for three years, hampered by an ankle injury in 2011. Projects as a rotational lineman.
  11. I think it's actually one of my favorite moments - to see the player's reaction, particularly with family and friends. I'm sad to see they're doing away with it.
  12. Asking as a question, have you seen him play? His acceleration and speed remind me of an early Brandon Jacobs, without the height.
  13. Stephen Hill at #32 is indeed wishful thinking. CBS Sports has him ranked #30 overall, and Walters Mock Draft has him going #22 to the Browns. It's likely he's not around, but I can always wish. Stranger things have happened on draft day - Teams may be higher on other players, plus WR's and RB's have tended to fall as of the past several drafts. Hill is also not a finished product, he has some development he needs to do with route running, etc. People are also saying Shwartz is surging up draft boards, so he may not be around at #64. I'm sure I'll have to revise my draft once more as we move closer to draft day.
  14. Revised - Mock Draft II 1 - Stephen Hill 6'4 215, WR Georgia Tech 2 - Mitchel Shwartz 6'6 310, OT California 3 - Trent Robinson 5'10 195, S, Michigan St 4 - Jack Crawford 6'5 265, DE Penn St 4 - (Compensation Pick) Terrance Ganaway, 6'0 239, RB Baylor 6 - Corey Harkey 6'4 260, (Blocking) TE UCLA 7 - Marquis Maze, WR (more of a PR/KR) 5'8 186, Alabama
  15. Pin this thread right now! We'll hold you to it
  16. I can see Reese taking a WR in the 1st or 2nd round. I think between picks 30-70 are where there is some real value available at the WR position in this draft class.
  17. I agree to some extent, but a few things: -Based on Reese's draft history, he doesn't like drafting TE's (I think Shiancoe was still Ernie Arcosi, correct? so he's only drafted Beckum) - and this may be the case this year, especially given that he signed Bennett already, has Pascoe, Beckum (who I know is sub par), and Ballard should he come back healthy. -OT to me seemed like the logical first round choice, my problem is when I got through to the #32 pick, there were no players available worthy of the pick. Same thing when I got to pick #64. All capable players were picked prior to those, based on what I've seen in other mock drafts -RB - Outside of Trend Richardson, it's generally only an average class out there, and many of the backs are similar to what we already have, Bradshaw. I'd love for a guy like Doug Martin (another Boise St) guy to drop to us, or to pick up someone like Cyrus Gray in the middle rounds. Nevertheless, again I still believe the priority is OL first, and RB's will follow - There's no reason Ware can't compliment Bradshaw, and supplement with Scott (remember Tiki had fumbalidus before his career took off). I think Reese will go RB, possibly high in the draft as well, but in my estimation, we should focus on OL (and we all know I'm more qualified than Reese, haha). -My LB only being picked in the middle rounds assumes Goff comes back healthy, Rivers is in the mix, and Sintim comes back healthy. When you look at it, we have a fair amount of depth + young players on the team currently: Boley, Goff, Kiwi, Rivers, Sintim, Jaquan Williams (I think he's very talented) and the two rookie FAs.
  18. Check out a few videos of the guy, particularly against Nebraska. Around the 1 minute mark of the video, what I see is the entire right side of the interior line being driven forward several yards by Zeitler. This guy is a monster, and underrated too.
  19. The way I see it Seph, the giants interior line is aging, and overall is below average. The team can't run the ball, and was generally getting their assess pushed back on running and passing downs. Diehl is very average at guard, and is also getting up there in age. Baas was a huge disappointment. Even Snee had issues last year. Boothe is a career backup and spot starter (and I think is currently a free agent). I think Petrus is also serviceable and may even develop into a starter down the road, but looking ahead, we have two more interior line positions to fill. Zeitler is a true road grade blocker, who can also play the pass well. He's a workaholic in the weight and film room as well. I think he can redefine the giants Oline in general, and get them back to being a balanced team with an effective run game. He's also a guy that can likely start right away. I also think OT is a position of need on this team, despite Locklear, but I couldn't find any OT's worthy of drafting at the 32 spot, nor in the 2nd, 3rd round either.
  20. My focus in the first two rounds for the gmen is in the trenches... this is where the game is won and lost. We have some obvious issues on the OL, and Zeitler will strengthen that area. Winn is a solid lineman who can be used at a number of positions on the D line. Robinson fills, what I think is, an important rover spot in the secondary vacated by Deon Grant. He also has man cover skills, so he can fill in should Rolle get hurt (or to free up Rolle to blitz or defend the run) Smith is a college DE who projects to OLB in the NFL. Kiwi is in the last year of his contract. Jerry Reese loves his pass rushers, but this guy can also play the run. Hemingway is a big receiver who ran surprisingly well at the combine for his size, a bit under the radar since he played in a run heavy offense without a true QB. Ganaway is a guy I believe is also under the radar... a true bruiser. Perfect late round pick to fill power back position. Nate Potter, versatile backup OL Maze, a guy who can be both a KR and PR (his receiving skills are also fairly good, his limitation in the passing game is his height). Also, my draft assumes we get Goff back starting at MLB. 1 - Kevin Zeitler 6'4 314, OG Wisconsin 2 - Billy Winn, DE/DT 6'4 294, Boise St. (Osi has one year left, at best, Tolly is gone) 3 - Trent Robinson 5'10 195, S, Michigan St 4 - Jacquies Smith, 6'3 253 OLB/DE, Missouri 4 - (compensatory) - Junior Hemingway, 6'1 225, WR Michigan 5 - Terrance Ganaway, 6'0 239, RB Baylor 6 - Nate Potter, OT 6'6 303, Boise St. 7 - Marquis Maze, WR (more of a PR/KR) 5'8 186, Alabama
  21. What's the expectation on Terrell Thomas? Is he fully healthy by the start of the season?
  22. Oh man, you brought back so many bad memories!
  23. Edit: Meant for the title to say overstated. Seriously no joke, Steve Weatherford.
  24. Might I suggest that our O-Line actually try run blocking one of these days. Please... even with 6OL, a TE, and a FB, they still can't get any push.
