  1. I'm a fan of trading down and drafting for volume in rounds 2-4. That way, you don't put all your eggs in one basket.
  2. Apparently, GMs and coaches are not happy with this either. It's 2-3 less weeks to prepare rookies to play in the NFL. That may not seem like much, but consider they have only 10-12 weeks to prepare for camp, and now the NFL is biting into that, which makes up 20-25% of their preparation time.
  3. Anyone else annoyed that the NFL pushed the draft back by three weeks this year, to produce "hype" for it? It's actually led me to stop following the draft as closely, as I'm simply tired of waiting at this point. I don't have any figures, but I doubt it's producing any hype, and may even be hurting. Pro days are over, free agency is over, interviews are over etc... draft rooms are just sitting on their hands now and so are fans.
  4. Another key is he only has 387 carries under his belt over four years, so he has fresh legs. People always talk about age 30 being a general tipping point for running backs. But it's less about age, and more about the carries, and respective pounding, they've accumulated over the years. I think Jennings could play well for the duration of his contract, through age 32.
  5. http://www.nj.com/giants/index.ssf/2014/03/former_coaches_dish_on_some_giants_free-agent_signings.html Raiders coach Dennis Allen on RB Rashad Jennings: "He played well for us. He played really well for us. He was a back that you'd seen a little bit in Jacksonville but you hadn't really seen a lot of. So you weren't really sure exactly what you had in him. He was a pleasant surprise. The thing I was most impressed with him was that he was a big back that ran big. I think that is important. But yet he still had the speed to break off a long explosive run." "He had special team ability. That is where he made his first impact for us, on special teams. The more touches you gave to him, the more you got a chance to see he had good ability as a runner."
  6. Patterson was a pretty good scrappy style player who I'd like to see back. Give him a one or two year deal.
  7. I'd be happy with either Donald or Ebron. Also DT RaShede Hagemen 6'6 315lbs from Minnesota is an absolute monster. They are comparing him to JJ Watt. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1664241/rashede-hageman STRENGTHS: Alternately lining up over the nose or as a three-technique, Hageman consistently pushes his counterparts deep into the backfield, demonstrating rare upfield burst for a man of his size, as well as impressive strength. A brute in the middle, combining excellent size and power to push blockers deep into the pocket. WEAKNESSES: At times struggles to locate the football quickly, can appear a bit stiff changing directions and shows just average speed and determination in pursuit, despite being subbed often. Had two potential big tackles for losses negated by facemask penalties against Minnesota in 2013. --Rob Rang PLAYER OVERVIEW They don't come much more physically imposing than Hageman, whose broad shoulders, long arms and trim waist have generated comparisons from J.J. Watt to John Henderson. Hageman's physical tools are exciting and his rise from a tough childhood is inspirational, but best of all is his DL versatility. Hagemen looks more like a modern day offensive tackle, possessing broad shoulders, long arms and a relatively trim waist. He remains a bit raw but possesses first round traits. (11/1/13)

  9. He won't be able to workout on his leg until July. That is not exactly fine. Even so, when healthy, he still stinks.
  10. Also, is there a reason Snee is still on the team? He's been lousy too, or injured the rest of the time.
  11. I like the signing. But do we have cap room left for a tight end or OT?I can't imagine Reese would leave a starting TE and LT job to rookies, and Beatty who was atrocious last year is coming off the big injury.
  12. Rumor is that Gilbride's offense was one of the most convoluted and complicated in the league
  13. I was really hoping we'd sign more OL in free agency, so that we could draft that LBer Mosely from Alabama with the #12 pick.
  14. I know. I hear you. I'm just trying to illustrate that the giants top off-season priority in general should be OL.
  15. My Desired Giants Draft By round: 1 - OL 2 - OL 3 - OL 4 - OL 5 - OL 6 - OL 7 - OL
  16. As I see it, in order of priority, for FA and the draft we need: 4 OL, LB, DB, DE, RB, TE, WR. I would at least start by releasing Snee, Baas, Beatty, re-signing Boothe, and signing C Alex Mack and LT Branden Albert.
  17. How about hiring Charlie Weis as OC. He did a tremendous job with the Jets, Patriots, and most recently Chiefs in 2010 (his only season with them, they had a prolific offense)
  18. Another point about Fewell. Consider the fact that he had to manage all year with a depleted secondary (Brown, Webster), and with a banged up JPP. He should get some credit for developing guys like Hill and McBride to fill in.
  19. OC's, I have to believe, have an influence on personnel decisions, drafts etc. I think Gilbride bears some of the blame for not putting together a sound O-Line this past 1-2 seasons.
  20. I like Brown, but due to the frequent injuries, I wouldn't go nuts spending on him. At best, I would offer him a 3 year deal in the 8-9 million dollar range (total); incentives laden. In general, I'm not very big on investing in RB's. I'm much more interested in rebuilding the offensive line. In the modern game, an O-Line is far more important. I believe it is here where the gmen should invest the most. I would also cut Kiwanuka, so that we can resign Tuck at a reasonable price (offer 3 years, ~15-16 million). I'd rather have Tuck than Kiwi back, and I believe Kiwi's 2014 cap number is in the 4-5 million dollar range.
  21. I agree. Plus, the offense was so inept this year (e.g. turnovers, 3 and outs) and only increased the burden on the defense.
  22. Joe I think you and I should apply for Giants front office GM/Draft type positions. Here's my resume, haha: Vendetta Experience: 1998-Present: Madden NFL Football, Franchise Mode 2002-Present: CBS Sports and Yahoo Fantasy Football
  23. Forget the playcalling. At this point with Gilbride, can we at least just try getting the damn play calls in on time before the play clock expires? On a weekly basis, the giants generally commit at least three delay of games or the equivalent of time-outs burned because they can't get the plays off on time. Has anyone else noticed the giants seem to be prone to this more than other teams?
