  1. The buck stops at the top. Ultimately, he's responsible. It's called the "Tough Shit" rule. If something bad happens when you're in charge, then you get blamed for it and held responsible.
  2. Your own figures demonstrated he's at least below average in that round. I'd be interested to see what percentile he's in...probably bottom third or quarter of GMs. And I count Jayron Hosley in there...nobody is picking that guy up, even for the practice squad, and he was off our roster last year.
  3. Either way, those in earlier rounds on average have a higher success rate and last longer in the league, per Tree's earlier post.
  4. They're all given four year contracts
  5. The contract lengths are all standard now regardless of round so your first sentance makes no sense.
  6. In any case, at best Jerry Reese is below average in the third round, and worst he may be in the bottom five-ten GMs. I think he's an okay GM overall...but nothing special.
  7. Why aren't you counting Hosley? And what's the lower end range? I wonder what percentile that puts Reese in. Certainly would be in the lower half.
  8. How do you compare the third round to the seventh?
  9. Out of the draft picks above, which are long term starters in this league? Or are even still in the league, lol.
  10. I'd venture to say his record is worse...I'll look into it more though, to your point.
  11. Gotta love our luck/Jerry's inability to find players in the 3rd round who can contribute and last, beyond a few flashes. 2007 - Jay Alford 2008 - Mario Manningham (okay, Reese gets a pass here for his contributions) 2009 - Ramses Barden, Travis Beckham 2010 - Chad Jones (okay, this is not on Reese) 2011 - Jerrel Jernigan 2012 - Jayron Hosely 2013 - Damontre Moore 2014 - Jay Bromley (may be a decent backup at best) 2015 - OO 2016 - Darian Thompson (I'm optimistic about him though)
  12. This is encouraging to hear. Rhett's ex coach on the Vikings has some good things to say. http://www.nj.com/giants/index.ssf/2017/04/giants_rhett_ellison_vikings_mike_zimmer.html#incart_river_index
  13. Our running game was pathetic regardless of blocking tactics. The stats don't tell the whole story. For instance, our avg yards per rush were definitely inflated by the 3rd and 11 McAdoo patented give-up draws (where teams were so stunned we were even trying to run it and not pass), in addition to the 3rd and 18 draws after a holding penalty and/or sack the previous down.
  14. Star Ledger is reporting that the giants are holding a private workout with Texas RB D'Onte Foreman. I saw him play a little last year and he's okay. I wasn't overly impressed but he can get the job done, and the size is a plus. 3rd - 4th round grade probably in my view, but I bet some teams have him higher.
  15. Ah. That's fair and makes sense.
  16. I'm not clear what you mean when you say they're not a true RB. Between them, they put together a bunch of 1,000 yard seasons, and overall were very reliable. They're no Tiki Barber, but that's a hard guy to live up to.
  17. Jacobs and Bradshaw were fine.
  18. Probably just to give him a look at camp....kind of a meh signing. I'm looking to the draft now, for us to draft OL, RB, and hopefully one of those top three or four TEs.
  19. Wowsers. Nice job by the front office.
  20. There's always the JT Thomas cut, plus maybe Dwayne Harris, but from my understanding, the front office wants to wait until JT Thomas's physical checks out and for Dwayne Harris post June 1. But those moves should free up $4-5mm.
  21. I wonder who would restructure? DRC, for instance?
  22. I think Linval is worth the ~$5mm per year he's making. Hankins too should probably make around that, but I bet this year he lands at a 1 year $4mm deal. Either way, we have no cap room to afford it at this point.
  23. Correction **ever (not never)
  24. Hankins is a solid starting calibur DT, though he's type that would ever be in a pro bowl. Not worth paying 8-10mm per year, but maybe 5-6. Linval Joseph's contract was 5 years 31.5 million, according to spotrac.
  25. We should be able to sign most of them. Our current total cap allocations for 2018 for instance are only 115 million. http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/new-york-giants/ This year's salary cap is 168 million. So let's say next years rises to 175 million, that means we have 60 million in cap space, excluding any cuts. So who hits the cap in 2018. Gotta figure that their cap figures might be: - Beckham - 16 million - Pugh - 8 million - Richburg - 6 million (he's not that good) - Bromley - I'd just as soon not re-sign him. He's also not that good. So we're maybe looking at a 2018 cap hit of ~30mm to bring these guys back, meaning we'd have 30mm left. That's without JPP though.
